It is easy to prepare, looks spectacular, and is eaten instantly! All this is about our delicious apple pie with egg and sour cream filling. It seems nothing special, but there is one "trick": the way of cutting fruit. Not slices, not cubes, but whole halves! Therefore, for this baking, it is better to choose not too large specimens of our favorite summer cottage varieties (for example, white filling, cinnamon or melba). But firm green fruits, especially those sold in stores all year round, will not go: they will not bake well, and the filling of our delicious apple pie will not acquire the correct texture.

  1. Make dough for a delicious apple pie. To do this, cut the cooled butter into small cubes. Sift flour on top and chop until crumbs.
  2. Add sugar to the resulting crumb and beat in an egg. Pour in cold water and knead the dough. Do not knead too long, otherwise the cake will not be crumbly.
  3. Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes or 1 hour if time permits. If desired, you can leave it overnight.
  4. Remove the foil from the dough and place it on a work surface dusted with flour. Roll it into a thin layer, cut out a circle with a larger diameter than the bottom of the mold (its diameter is 24–26 cm), and put it into it, forming high sides.
  5. Prepare the filling. Peel the apples and cut each in half. Core with seeds. Make mesh cuts on the convex side of each half. Place the apples on top of the dough with the convex side up.
  6. Prepare your apple pie filling. Beat eggs with a mixer with sugar until fluffy. Add sour cream and beat again. Sift flour on top. Stir the mixture with a whisk.
  7. Gently pour the resulting mass over the apples on the dough. Try not to move the halves too much, then the delicious apple pie will turn out to be very beautiful.
  8. Heat the oven to 190 ° C. Bake the cake until the filling is golden brown (30-30 minutes). In the middle, it should remain tender, and harden around the edges.
