Kolivo is a porridge made from wheat grains, barley or rice. It is watered with honey, decorated with raisins and candied fruits. According to Orthodox traditions, kolivo is served as a memorial dish.

  1. Prepare all ingredients.
  2. Pour the raisins with hot water, then drain the water. If the cranberries are tough, they can also be rinsed in water.
  3. Fill the poppy with hot water. When the water has cooled, drain the water, add 1-2 tbsp. clean water and rub the poppy seeds with a pestle.
  4. Rinse the spelled, cover with clean water and put on medium heat. Add a pinch of salt. Cook for about 20 minutes over low heat.
  5. When the porridge is almost cooked, pour in the soy milk and cook until tender, stirring constantly.
  6. Finally, add raisins, cranberries, poppy seeds and sweet syrup to the porridge. Stir.
  7. Enjoy your meal!
