What does grandma's house smell like? Hot cocoa and freshly baked cookies, of course! Until the last days of her life, my grandmother delighted loved ones with her culinary masterpieces and tried to come up with something interesting and unusual in each of our visits. Here is one of her signature recipes, which I remember from childhood, and which my grandmother supplemented in the last years of her life, taking advantage of the abundance of seasonings and spices that appeared in stores.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Let's make a cookie dough. Sift the flour and mix with cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder or slaked soda. In a separate bowl, beat the egg with melted butter and white sugar, add honey (if it is candied, it must first be melted in a water bath). Add flour with spices to the resulting mixture and mix well. The finished dough must be refrigerated for 30-40 minutes.
  2. While the dough is solidifying, prepare the cocoa. Put cocoa powder, cinnamon stick broken into pieces, cloves, sliced ginger in a small saucepan, add 2 tablespoons of milk and mix well so that there are no lumps. Add the remaining milk and set it on a small fire. As soon as the milk heats up a little, throw the chocolate broken into pieces into it. While stirring constantly, heat the cocoa to completely dissolve the chocolate. Now turn off the stove and let the drink brew under the lid.
  3. We take out the dough from the refrigerator, roll small balls out of it and put it on a baking sheet covered with paper. There should be a gap of several centimeters between the balls - the dough spreads a lot in the oven. We bake for 10-15 minutes. at a temperature of 180 degrees. Remove the cookies from the baking sheet and sprinkle with powdered sugar when they are completely cool.
  4. Put ice cream in cups or glasses and pour cocoa strained through a strainer. Serve with cookies and a kind smile!
