Redfish with Winter Rice

It just so happened that my sister and I (each in her own family) cook this rice as a side dish only for the New Year's holiday. The garnish is universal for both meat and fish dishes. And by itself it is self-sufficient. We cook it in different versions - with carrots or pumpkin. And rosemary is a must. We associate it with winter better than other herbs.

  1. Salt and pepper the steaks and leave for 30-40 minutes.
  2. For a side dish, cut the pumpkin into fairly large cubes.
  3. Finely chop the onion and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown. Add rice and let it soak in oil for 3 minutes. Pour in the wine and let it boil for a couple of minutes. Then add rosemary leaves and pour in hot water. If the pumpkin is hard, you can place it with the rosemary. It is better to add the soft pumpkin later so that it does not boil over. Season with salt and simmer.
  4. Fry the steaks on both sides. Serve with winter rice.
