You've probably already heard this funny word "tataki". Tataki is a Japanese way to quickly cook fish or meat. Ideally, meat or fish is fried over an open fire, but if there is no barbecue at hand, a regular frying pan will do. The product remains almost raw, so you have to be sure of its quality.

  1. Preheat a nonstick skillet over high heat. Brush the beef fillet with vegetable oil, and then fry for 40 seconds. from each side.
  2. Combine soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar together in a small bowl. Place the meat on a sheet of foil and pour over 2 tbsp. l. wrap this mixture tightly. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Peel carrots, remove seeds and stalks from bell peppers. If using hot peppers, remove the seeds. Cut all vegetables into equal long strips. Cut the cilantro and green onions into pieces of equal length.
  4. Cut the beef tenderloin into very thin slices. For each slice, place a slice of sweet pepper, carrots, green onions and a little cilantro. If using, add a strip of hot pepper. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and roll the meat into rolls.
  5. Transfer the rolls to a serving dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Garnish with the remaining cilantro and serve.
