Ordinary chocolate brownies can be varied by adding caramel and nuts to the dough.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. First you need to prepare caramel. In a saucepan, combine water and corn syrup, stir, then pour sugar into the middle of the saucepan and mix well, but do not allow the sugar to settle on the walls of the saucepan. Put the saucepan on low heat, stir the mixture for 2 minutes. Then increase the heat to medium-high and, without stirring, cook the syrup until the sugar dissolves and becomes dark golden, 6-10 minutes.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring, until caramel brown, 1 to 3 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the stove, add the cream into it, stir, then add the butter, vanilla and salt. Caramel is ready.
  3. Place the rack in the oven in the middle position, and turn on the oven itself to preheat to 180 degrees.
  4. Cover a square shape measuring 20x20 centimeters with two long sheets of foil crosswise so that large tails hang from all sides.
  5. Flatten the foil inside the mold and brush with oil.
  6. Melt butter and chocolate in a water bath or microwave until smooth. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  7. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt, mix. In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla, add chocolate mass to this mixture, stir well, and then add flour to this chocolate mass, mix, add nuts and chocolate chips (optional).
  8. Put half of the dough into the prepared form, pour 1/4 cup of caramel.
  9. Pour over the remaining batter, pour about another 1/4 cup of caramel on top and make a streak with a knife.
  10. Bake brownies with nuts and caramel until a clean wooden stick, 35-40 minutes.
  11. Remove the hazelnut and caramel brownies from the oven and leave at room temperature until completely cooled, about 2 hours. If you cook classic brownies, then the cake needs to be cut into squares.
  12. The remaining caramel should be heated in the microwave (but not brought to a boil), pour it over the whole pie.
  13. Chill the brownie with nuts and caramel in the refrigerator for 2 hours, then cut it into squares and garnish with nuts.
