  1. Prepare the ingredients for a classic cod liver salad. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover with water. Put on fire and bring to a boil. Cook for no more than 10 minutes.
  2. Drain the boiled egg pot. Then place it under running cold water and let it sit for 10 minutes. After this procedure, it will be easier to peel the eggs.
  3. Peel the onion for the salad, then chop very finely. Pour into a bowl and toss with wine or table vinegar. Leave for 10 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Grate hard cheese on a medium or fine grater. Put the canned cod liver from the jar onto a sieve and let the liquid drain. Then transfer to a bowl and mash with a fork.
  5. Peel and chop the eggs. Add the cod liver to the bowl along with the other prepared ingredients: onions (vinegar should be squeezed out) and grated hard cheese. Stir.
  6. Add mayonnaise, some salt and ground black pepper. Stir and serve. You can also spread the salad over the toasted brown bread slices for a delicious snack.
