Herring under a fur coat is a nostalgic dish, a constant participant in home feasts and a good base for culinary experiments. We offer you another variation, now with sprat and pike caviar.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Before cooking, boil all vegetables and grate on a coarse grater. Chop the green onion finely. Divide separately in different containers.
  2. Cut the herring into small cubes (5 mm side) and mix with the green onions.
  3. Divide the mayonnaise into 4 equal parts. Mix each separately with potatoes, beets, carrots and eggs.
  4. Put the dish in 10 layers, observing the following order: herring, potatoes, carrots, egg, beets and repeat the previous 5 layers. Garnish with grated egg yolk at the end.
  5. Cover the finished dish with plastic wrap and let it brew for at least 30 minutes. Herring under a fur coat is served with rye bread fried in vegetable oil, grated with a clove of garlic. Put on top of the bread (2-3 pieces per 1 piece of bread) a sprat of spiced salting stuffed with pike caviar.
