Delicious, fragrant pilaf with canned green peas is a full lunch or dinner not only for those who fast but also for vegetarians and vegans.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a cauldron or deep cast-iron skillet, heat the oil, add the star anise, coriander, turmeric, and heat. Add chopped onion, and fry until golden. Add carrots cut into strips or grated on a large grater. Fry everything until golden and soft carrots. Add a jar of green peas with liquid, the cheapest one that is firm for a salad. Bring to a boil. Cover the washed rice on top and pour hot water half a centimeter above the level of the rice. Add salt to taste. Cook uncovered until the water boils to the level of the rice. Then cover, reduce the heat to a candle and cook for another half hour. Mix the finished pilaf well, turn off the heat, cover and let stand for another 15 minutes. Bon appetit!
