If you want to cook mackerel on the grill or grill, then this recipe is exactly what you need. Fish baked on coals in this way always turns out tender, juicy and fragrant. The mixture of spices in which we marinated it harmoniously harmonizes and complements the taste of mackerel in a very interesting way, besides, you can feel the aroma of smoke from the grill. The main thing is not to overdo it so that it does not become dryish.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cooking begins with the preparation of fish. My mackerel is not cut, so the first thing I need is to cut off the head from the carcass and remove the insides from it.
  2. Cut off the tail and fins.
  3. Next, along the entire length of the carcass, we make shallow oblique cuts. They will help the marinade penetrate the fish faster and marinate it better.
  4. The last thing we need to do is rinse the fish in clean water.
  5. In a deep bowl, mix ginger and dried basil. Pass the garlic through a press.
  6. Add salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. Pour the spices with a small amount of vegetable oil and mix the contents of the bowl.
  7. We will also need the juice of half a lemon. To make the lemon more actively give juice, it must be rolled on the work surface. After that, cut it into 2 parts.
  8. Drizzle the mackerel with lemon juice.
  9. Pour the marinade over the mackerel. Spread the marinade evenly over the entire surface of the fish. Be sure to make sure that it gets into the belly of the fish, and also penetrates into the slots that we made on the sides. Thirty minutes is enough for mackerel to marinate.
  10. We kindle coals in the grill. No need to rush and immediately spread the fish on them. Let the coals cool down a bit. While the coals are cooling, put the marinated fish on the grate so that the carcasses do not have direct contact with each other. We fix them with the second part of the lattice - and we can start cooking.
  11. Fry the fish on coals for a short time - 12, a maximum of 15 minutes will be enough. If you keep the fish longer, then the mackerel on the grill will turn out to be rather dry.
  12. Enjoy your meal!
