Mashed potatoes with sour cream and butter have a more pronounced taste than mashed potatoes with milk or cream. It contains a light, barely perceptible sourness, which in no way spoils the dish, but, on the contrary, makes its taste more interesting. A budget and delicious side dish!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Peel the potatoes and wash thoroughly.
  2. Cut the potatoes into medium-sized slices and transfer to a saucepan.
  3. Pour the potatoes with clean, cold water so that it only covers the slices.
  4. Set it to maximum heat and bring the water to a boil. Then reduce heat, cover the pot and cook the potatoes for about 30-45 minutes, until tender. The exact cooking time depends on the type of potato, but for mashed potatoes, overcooking the potatoes is better than undercooking. Salt the potatoes 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
  5. Then drain the water from the potatoes. Do not pour the broth, but simply drain it into a separate container, as we need it.
  6. Mash the potato slices thoroughly with a crush. When preparing mashed potatoes, use only a crush, a blender will not work - with it, the mashed potatoes will be sticky.
  7. Add butter and sour cream.
  8. Mash the puree again until the butter and sour cream dissipate in it.
  9. And now, gradually adding hot potato broth to the puree, knead the mashed potatoes of the consistency you need.
  10. As a result, you should get a smooth, fluffy and airy puree without lumps.
  11. Mashed potatoes with sour cream are ready.
  12. Serve it to the table as an addition to meat, fish, or as a separate dish.
  13. Bon Appetit!
