Almost no one can refuse fried potatoes with salted herring. This is a classic that has won the hearts of millions of people. I propose to go a little beyond the usual perception of potatoes and herring and combine them in a salad, adding fried bell peppers, pickled onions and sesame seeds. The salad turns out to be very original, bright and appetizing. It can easily replace a full meal.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Peel the onion and cut into thin rings.
  2. Transfer the onion rings to a bowl, add 2 pinches of salt, ground coriander, pour in 0.5 tbsp. tablespoons of lemon juice and 0.5 tbsp. tablespoons of sunflower oil. Stir the onion and leave to marinate.
  3. Peel the potatoes. Wash the tubers, pat dry with a paper towel and cut into long sticks.
  4. Pour oil (250 ml) into a saucepan and heat it over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and add 1/3 of potatoes to hot oil. Fry the potatoes until firmly golden brown. Remove from the saucepan with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel.
  5. Fry the rest of the potatoes in the same way and leave to cool.
  6. Wash the sweet red pepper, cut out the inner partitions with seeds. Cut the pulp of the pepper into strips.
  7. Heat the sunflower oil in a skillet and fry the bell peppers over high heat for about 3 minutes.
  8. Transfer the fried peppers from the pan to a plate and leave to cool.
  9. Cut the skinless and boneless salted herring fillet into slices.
  10. In a bowl or deep salad bowl, combine cooled fries and bell peppers, pickled onions and herring fillets.
  11. Stir the salad. If necessary, add additional salt, but you do not need to add sunflower oil.
  12. Divide salad into bowls (2 servings) and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  13. Salad with French fries, herring, bell pepper and pickled onions ready to serve.
  14. Bon Appetit!
