A very popular dish in Greece - "Garides Saganaki" or "Shrimp baked with cheese" - is prepared simply and quickly, it turns out incredibly tasty!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut onions (or shallots) and bell peppers into small cubes.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry the vegetables over medium heat for 5 minutes until the onions are transparent.
  3. Rub the tomato on a coarse grater, do not use the peel.
  4. Put the grated tomato to the onion and pepper, add salt and pepper, pour in ouzo and simmer the sauce for 7-8 minutes.
  5. Transfer the sauce to a baking dish.
  6. We clean the shrimp from the shells and intestinal wreath on the tails.
  7. Fry the shrimps in a dry hot frying pan for 2 minutes on each side.
  8. We shift the shrimp into a dish with vegetable sauce. Top with feta cheese, sprinkle with fresh thyme on top of the dish.
  9. We send the form with shrimps in vegetable sauce and cheese to an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 15 minutes, we only need the cheese to melt.
  10. Saganaki shrimp - baked shrimp with cheese - ready. This dish is served in portions, with fresh white bread, which is dipped into the sauce.
