The more carefully and longer you mix the dark and light dough, the more intricate the "marble" pattern of the cake will turn out. To make the marble cake even more fragrant, grated orange zest can be added to the dough.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Cover a rectangular deep form (21x11x6 cm) with parchment. Sift flour with baking powder into a large bowl, add butter, sugar, lightly beaten eggs and vanilla. Beat with a mixer. Add milk (the dough should drip off the mixer attachments). Separate half of the dough and mix with cocoa. Lay out the white and brown dough alternately in the form and "draw" with a knife or a "figure eight" skewer to get a marble effect.
  2. Bake 55 minutes. The cake should rise well and be firm to the touch. Leave the cake in the mold for 5 minutes. Then, cool on a wire rack and cut the marble cake into slices.
