Initially, uzvar was considered a Christmas drink, but in our family, even during my childhood, my grandmother cooked uzvar throughout the winter from fruits harvested in the summer.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1. I make uzvar from self-harvested dried fruits, but you can buy a ready-made mixture in a store or on the market. Rinse all dried fruits well 2-3 times.
  2. 2. Place in a saucepan and fill with cold water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 5 minutes. Then remove from the stove, cover with a lid, and insist for at least 5 hours. I usually cook in the evening and leave overnight.
  3. 3. The main difference between uzvar and compote is that uzvar is not boiled, but insisted on dried fruits, so more vitamins are preserved, and a richer taste is obtained. Honey can be added to the finished uzvar to taste.
