Make mug cake yourself – the basic recipe

For 1 portion or 1 mug of cake

  • 30 grams of butter
  • 1 egg (M)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 tbsp cream
  • 5 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

For the topping

  • powdered sugar
  • optional chocolate glaze.

Preparation

1. Melt butter in the microwave. Split the vanilla pod lengthways and scrape out the pulp. In a large mug, beat the egg vigorously with the sugar and the vanilla pulp; Gradually add all the other ingredients, including the melted butter, while stirring constantly.

2. Place the cup, including the liquid content, in the microwave at 800 watts for around 2 minutes so that the dough rises.

3. Take the mug out of the microwave (caution: the handle is hot) and sprinkle chocolate icing or some icing sugar over it.

Ingredients for 30 rolls

– 1 Gouda in a row
– 2 packets of salami (total 400g)
– 1 packet of cooked ham (200g)
– 1 cup of crème fraîche
– 3-4 packets of pre-baked rolls

Preparation

You will need a food processor to prepare the pizza rolls. First cut the Gouda, salami, and cooked ham into small pieces. Now gradually put the pieces of sausage and cheese in the machine and chop them up. Add the crème fraîche and mix it with the mixture. The spread for the pizza buns is ready. Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C for a fan oven). Now cut the buns in half and spread them with the mixture as you like. Put the bun halves in the oven and bake for about 8-10 minutes.

If the mass is too firm when chopping, you can add the crème fraîche earlier. Depending on your taste, the pizza buns can be sprinkled with oregano or basil.

  4. Place in the oven at 160 degrees and bake on the middle rack for 20 minutes.

Trick #1 for peeling garlic: Crush the clove

Shake the jar vigorously for about half a minute. The glass should then look like the picture in the middle.
Throw the peel that has already come off in the organic waste or dispose of it on the compost.
Shake the jar vigorously again and discard the detached peel.
If the skin hasn’t come off all the toes yet, you can easily peel them off now.
For this trick to work, you should

shake really long and hard.
use a jar with a hard lid. (So ​​the tuber has enough resistance when shaken.)
make a vertical shaking motion.
This method is particularly suitable for peeling several cloves or a whole tuber at once. If you don’t need all the cloves right away, you can pickle the garlic. Alternatively, you can use it to make a delicious garlic oil or garlic paste.

Trick #3: Soak garlic before peeling

The last trick you have to prepare a few hours in advance.
Soak the toes in water for about 2-3 hours.
The peel is now soaked and can be easily removed from the toe.
For this trick to work, the garlic needs to be soaked long enough. To check whether the shell is soft enough, you can take out a clove in between. Now test whether it can be peeled easily. If not, you can just let them soak in the water longer.

Quick recipe for zucchini noodles

We usually use it to prepare classic spaghetti noodles. But here we conjure up spaghetti from zucchini and ground turkey is used for the Bolognese. The ingredients are the following:

  • two zucchini,
  • 500g minced turkey,
  • 100 ml milk,
  • 1 pack of tomato passata and 3 tablespoons of tomato paste,
  • 3 tbsp olive oil, salt, and pepper, some oregano,
  • an onion and some freshly grated parmesan cheese.

Cut the onions into small pieces, sauté in olive oil, add the minced meat, sauté lightly and immediately add the tomato paste and the tomato passata. Then bring to a boil and refine with milk, salt, and pepper and let simmer for around 15 minutes. Meanwhile, wash the zucchini, remove the pulp with the seeds, and cut the zucchini into strips with a vegetable peeler. Then lightly salt the strips and put them in a slightly larger saucepan, pour boiling water over them and let them rest for five minutes, so don’t let them boil. Then serve the cooked strips with the turkey bolognese and refine with Parmesan cheese.

If you like to fish, you can quickly and easily prepare salmon with rice. You can prepare the following dish within 30 minutes and enjoy it quickly. All you need are the following ingredients (for two servings):

  • 350g broccoli
  • 2 pieces of salmon fillet (approx. 150 g)
  • 250 g express long grain rice
  • 50ml milk
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp sesame
  • 1.5 tbsp oil
  • salt, pepper, and curry

First, you need to wash the broccoli and then cook it in salted water for about 5 minutes. Afterward you should keep 400 ml of the cooking water for the preparation of a roux. So put some butter in a saucepan and add the flour, stirring constantly you can add milk and the cooking water. Then let it simmer for 5 minutes and add the broccoli. You can refine it again with salt and pepper. Then you need to rinse the fish with clean water and dry it. Then roast the sesame in the pan, take it out and start frying the fish in oil. About 2-3 minutes on each side. Finally, just prepare the express rice according to the instructions and serve everything together.

Jackfruit: The exotic meat substitute

As the name suggests, the jackfruit curry is based on the tropical fruit jackfruit. Jackfruit has become increasingly popular with vegans and vegetarians in recent years. The consistency is meat-like and the pulp tastes neutral. Thus, jackfruit is used in a variety of dishes and national cuisines.

Jackfruit Curry: An easy recipe

In this recipe we use canned jackfruit. This is quick to prepare and often easier to find in stores than fresh fruit.

Ingredients:

1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 teaspoon of grenades
20 ginger
3 cloves garlic
1 tsp turmeric
1 green chili pepper
2 onions
2 pieces of tomatoes
3 tablespoons coconut oil
250 g jackfruit
100 ml water
1 tablespoon date syrup
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 handful of fresh coriander, chopped

Directions:

Place coriander seeds, cumin, and allspice seeds in a mortar and pestle. Paint the seeds until they crumble.
Peel the ginger and garlic.
Roughly chop the ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, and green chilli. Grind them together with the spice mixture in the mortar until you get a coarse paste.
Peel the onion, wash the tomatoes. Cut the onion into fine strips and the tomatoes into small cubes.
Heat the coconut oil in a large pan.
Sauté the onion in it for five minutes.
Add the spice mixture from the mortar and simmer over high heat for a minute.
Mix the tomatoes with the ingredients in the pan. Cover and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, drain the canned jackfruit and cut into small, bite-sized pieces as needed. Put the jackfruit in the pan.


Mix the ingredients with the water. Let the curry continue to cook for ten minutes over medium heat.
Refine the jackfruit curry with date syrup and garam masala.
Garnish the finished jackfruit curry with fresh coriander and serve.
