We have collected natural home remedies for fever. In the case of fever, it should be noted whether the fever patient is a baby, child, senior, or adult, since babies, children, or seniors in particular need special attention. When you have a fever, every cold becomes serious and you should see a doctor if you see certain signs. We will show you what you can do with natural home remedies to lower the fever naturally:

1) Cold calf wraps

The old household remedy to using calf wraps for fever has proven itself to this day because it cools the body and is, therefore, a countermeasure to overheating of the fever. A cloth is dipped in lukewarm water, add 5 drops of lavender oil and 1 tablespoon of milk. Wring out the towel and wrap it around your calf. Leave on for about 10 minutes and then reapply. If you want it to be easier and quicker, just cold water with no frills.

2) Kneipp vinegar stockings

An alternative and a tried and tested home remedy for fever is the “vinegar stocking”. Coldwater and apple cider vinegar are mixed in a ratio of 5:1. Then dip this vinegar water into a pair of socks until the socks are soaked. Then wring out these stockings and pull them up to your calves if possible. Then pull a pair of dry socks over these vinegar socks and then lie down, well covered, and let the vinegar water soak in.

The vinegar socks can be taken off again after approx. 60 minutes (after approx. 20 minutes for children). If the fever does not go down, repeat the application several times. A new round should always be carried out when the feet and calves have become warm or hot again. The vinegar socks stimulate blood circulation and promote sleep. Both ensure the necessary recovery of the body in case of fever and support the immune system.

3) Hot fever tea

In case of fever, a fever tea for internal use is recommended. Recipes for teas that promote sweating and thus strengthen the body’s defenses should be used. After drinking fever tea you have to lie down and take it easy so that the body can work in peace. A simple recipe for a fever tea that you can have mixed in the pharmacy: 30g linden blossom, 30g elderflower, and 20g rosehip peel. Pour boiling water over this herbal mixture and leave it to steep for 10 minutes. As an alternative, there are corresponding tea bags in drugstores and pharmacies.

4) Absolute bed rest

For fever, bed rest is the easiest and best cure. When you have a fever, your body is very busy fighting off pathogens and needs absolute rest to be able to concentrate on it. The longer you can stay in bed, the faster your fiber will come back. So keep to strict bed rest, even if it’s difficult and you still have a lot of things to do.

5) Peppermint wash

A peppermint body wash is an effective home remedy. Peppermint stimulates the cold receptors in the skin and thus achieves a cooling effect. You can use pure peppermint oil or fresh peppermint leaves. Brew the peppermint leaves in boiling water for 10 minutes and let steep for 10 minutes. Then sieve off the leaves and add the peppermint water.

Alternatively, you can use oil instead of peppermint leaves, as mentioned for children aged six and over. Here one to three drops of pure peppermint oil are mixed with a liter of water, although this works best in a bottle as the mixture must be shaken vigorously before each use. The washing itself then also takes place in this case as described above. Only recommended for people aged 6 and over.

6) medicinal plant rabbit ear root

Chinese rabbit ear root (Bupleurum chinense DC) is considered an antipyretic plant. The rabbit ear root is bitter, has a cooling effect, and stimulates the flow of energy in the liver system. For a rabbit root tea, use 3 to 5 grams of dried rabbit root, boiled in half a liter of boiling water for 20 minutes.

7) Medicinal plant Gardenia tree fruits

The fruits of the gardenia tree (Gardenia jasminoides Ellis) help against fever. Gardenia tree fruits are similar to rose hips. They have the same bitter taste and stimulate blood circulation and lung activity. To prepare the tea, 3 g of dried gardenia tree fruits are boiled in half a liter of boiling water for 20 minutes. Then drink the tea throughout the day.

8) Homeopathic remedies for fever

Homeopathic remedies for fever include Dulcamara, Pulsatilla, Ferrum phosphoricum, Aconitum, Belladonna, Chamomilla, and Gelsemium. With homeopathic remedies, it is essential to consider the personal causes of the fever, which is why advice and treatment should be provided by a homeopath or naturopath.
