Coffee cups from old coffee grounds
After each coffee there is always a piece of coffee grounds. In most households, this then regularly ends up in the trash can. Not so with Julian Lechner in Berlin. On a trip to Italy he came up with the idea that the coffee grounds were somehow to recycle. After a long back and forth, he finally thought about creating from the remains of coffee cups. He not only invested in a valuable recycling process, but also led the remains of the coffee process. This original idea was well received by coffee lovers around the globe. Today Julian leads his own company “coffee reform” and sells various cup models from recycled coffee grounds.
The idea sounds great at first. But how exactly does such a recycled coffee cup be created from coffee grounds? For this we look at the manufacturing process. During his student days, Julian tried out many different methods, which should make a fixed material from the coffee grounds. The solution was ultimately a connection from biopolymer. The biological raw material gives the coffee grounds a fixed structure and allows any transformations. The result can be seen. A great wood look and high stability make the coffee cups made of coffee grounds suitable for everyday use.
Coffee residues as nutrient -rich fertilizers
Who would have thought – coffee remains turned out to be excellent fertilizers. Surprisingly, the coffee grounds that remained after the coffee preparation has a high proportion of valuable nutrients and antioxidants. If you bed it in a saucepan or floor, all sorts of plants can be easily grown here. In this regard, the English Eric and Adam started a great recycling example with their “Grocycle” project. These collect the coffee grounds of cafés in their surroundings, upgrade it and then breed tasty oyster mushrooms from it. In the meantime, the exotic type of mushrooms can be found in many restaurants all over England. Accordingly, the boys not only had a fabulous coffee recycling idea, but also a promising business idea.
Print: easy with coffee
The so-called Riti-Printer proves that coffee can also be innovative. The printer was recently presented by the designer Jeon Hwan Ju at the Greener Gadgets Design Competition. In contrast to a conventional printer, it works with normal coffee residues. These are introduced via a corresponding opening. Then a little effort is necessary. Fast left and right movements ensure that the device begins to print. The result can be seen: Precise shapes and fonts are printed on paper – the coffee residues were therefore converted into ink.
The prototype is not really ready for the commercial feed, but once again proves the variety of coffee. In our opinion, the Riti-Printer is definitely a great invention. After some research, the printer may also be used by the Ottonormal consumer.
Furniture, lamps and more: Wonder tool coffee
Hard to believe, but from coffee residues can really be made of pieces of furniture. The designer Raúl Laurí specializes in this coffee recycling idea and thus conjures up all kinds of unique products. However, he does not want to tell us exactly how he manages to make it a fixed and robust material from the coffee grounds. He probably uses certain binders and presses the result closely together so that a robust fabric is created. The pieces of furniture ultimately have very good stability and also look great.
With his coffee recycling series, Laurí has now produced numerous furniture. Finally, he caused a sensation by managing to produce his own lamp creation from coffee tests. To make matters worse, his works not only look great, but also smell pleasant for coffee. A feel -good atmosphere for coffee lovers is guaranteed.
