Corns look unsightly and sometimes painful. That’s why you should remove them. We show you home remedies with which you can quickly and effectively remove unwanted corns. For beautiful and pain-free feet in everyday life.
What are corns?
There are different names for corns (lat. Clavus). You may also know them by the names crow eyes, horn eyes, or Leichdorn. Not only are they ugly, but they can also be very painful. The cause of corns is often excessive and chronic pressure. As a result, they develop where constant pressure is applied to areas of protruding bone or bones that are just under the skin. Wearing shoes that are too tight can trigger the formation of horny eyes. Because the cornea begins to grow together under this pressure. Then there is a cone-shaped thickening of the cornea, in the middle of which a thorn-shaped horn core grows deep into the tissue. The deeper this gets, the more painful the horny eye becomes. And the more difficult its removal becomes.
Home remedies for corns
Old home remedies for corns help. Basically, all home remedies for removing corns are based on the same principle: the thickened cornea must be dissolved and removed. In general, however, caution should be exercised with any self-administered treatment. Accordingly, a layman should never cut around corn himself. Because that is the job of a pedicurist or a dermatologist! Especially deep-seated or recurring horny eyes require professional treatment. This applies in particular to diabetics or people with circulatory problems in their feet; here a specialist should always be consulted!
1) Footbaths for crow’s eyes
If you suffer from crow’s eyes, a foot soak can help get rid of them. This involves soaking your feet in warm, soapy water. Then you can carefully remove the softened callus of the corn with a pumice stone. Tea tree oil can also be added to the bathwater instead of soap. Because the effective miracle cure of tea tree oil is a well-known household remedy.
2) Remove raisins from corn
It sounds very unusual, but you can also remove your corns with raisins. Accordingly, you should halve a raisin every day and fix it with the cut side down with the help of plaster on the corn. The juice of the raisins ensures that the callus softens. Also, note our tips for cracking and removing calluses.
3) Onions against horny eyes
Here are several ways to use the onion cleverly. You can slice the onion for this. And then either treat it with a few squeezes of lemon juice and some salt or pickle it in vinegar. Then fix it on the horn eye. You should repeat this treatment for a few nights. Another option is to chop the onion into very small pieces and make an onion and salt mousse. You can apply this like a paste.
4) Fight corns with lemons
You can also use the all-rounder lemon. To do this, you have to fix a lemon slice with a gauze bandage on the corn overnight. This type of treatment requires patience. Because it works slowly! Another option: mix a spoonful of lemon juice, a spoonful of chamomile tea, and a crushed clove of garlic and rub it on the corn.
5) Remove vinegar to horny eye
You can also use the well-known household remedy vinegar. For this, you have to mix 3 tablespoons of vinegar with 1 tablespoon of water. Then put the liquid on a cotton ball and wrap it around your horny eye with the help of a gauze bandage. Consequently, the vinegar ensures that the callus softens. This will make it easier to remove the callus with a pumice stone. Vinegar is also an effective home remedy for athletes’ feet and can remove unwanted calluses.
