If the air conditioning stinks, then that’s unpleasant. In addition, it can be harmful to health. Therefore, you should fix the smelly air conditioner in the car as soon as possible.

Why does my air conditioner stink?

If the air conditioning in the car smells unpleasant after starting, then you should do something about it. Because the reason for a smelly air conditioning system is often an infestation of fungi and bacteria. Because they may have nested there. And mushrooms thrive in the plant’s humid environment. So that you can effectively eliminate the bacteria and fungi and your air conditioner no longer stinks, you should do the following:

1) Remove residual moisture from the air conditioner

In order to avoid the fungal infestation and thus the unpleasant smell, you should switch off the air conditioning shortly before the end of the journey and only let the ventilation run for a few minutes. This can be done with the “Econ” mode, for example. As a result, the residual moisture is removed from the system. If an air conditioner is already heavily infested with fungi, it is best to have it cleaned by a specialist company or have the filter replaced. 2) Disinfect the smelly air conditioner

If the smell is not too strong, you can disinfect your air conditioner. You can drive to an auto repair shop for this. Or buy the right disinfectant spray for your air conditioner yourself. Then you should follow the instructions strictly for effective odor elimination.

3) Warmth against smelly air conditioning

You can also try to kill the fungi and bacteria with heat. To do this, let the heating run at the highest level for some time. With a bit of luck, the odor-causing substances will die off and your air conditioner will no longer stink. Also, note tips on how to avoid smelly laundry and how to remove smells from the oven.

Tips to avoid smelly air conditioning

So that your air conditioner doesn’t stink in the first place, you should heed a few things and take care of the correct handling of your air conditioner:

  • Prevent the coolant from going bad by turning on the air conditioning every now and then, even in winter.
  • Switch off the air conditioning early, at least 5 minutes before the end of the journey.
  • Regularly check the coolant and replace the cabin filter.
  • Use air conditioning only when needed.

With the hot air fryer you can prepare tofu particularly crispy and low in fat. We’ll show you a simple, delicious basic recipe for crispy tofu from the Airfryer.

Tofu tastes best when fried crispy or fried in plenty of oil. But even without oil, your tofu will be crispy if you prepare it in the air fryer.

It is important that you use tofu that is as firm as possible and that you press it out before baking. You can do this with a tofu press or a heavy pan. Soft tofu with a high water content does not become crisp in the Airfryer either. Whether you use firm natural or smoked tofu is up to you. The result is spicier and tastier with smoked tofu.

Tofu from the air fryer: the basic recipe

Buy the tofu and the other ingredients in organic quality if possible. This is how you support organic farming that doesn’t use chemical-synthetic pesticides that could end up in your food and the environment. Recommended organic seals are, for example, Demeter, Naturland and Bioland. With tofu, you should also pay attention to the country of origin, because soybeans for tofu are also available from German or Austrian cultivation and are therefore more climate-friendly than soybeans, which have been transported a long time.

Note: You can also prepare the recipe without fat, but you will get the best result with a small amount of oil.

Ingredients:

400 g firm tofu
2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder (or fresh garlic)
1 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp onion powder (optional)
0.5 tsp chilli powder (optional)
Salt
pepper
1 tablespoon starch

Directions:

First, you need to squeeze the tofu for at least 15 to 30 minutes. This can be done using a tofu press or a heavy cast iron skillet that you place on top of the tofu. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel beforehand to absorb the excess liquid.
Cut the tofu into bite-sized cubes and add soy sauce or tamari (a gluten-free soy sauce) as well as the vegetable oil (optional).

Mix in the spices. We use garlic, paprika, onion and chili powder, as well as salt and pepper. Mix well with the tofu. Then add the starch and mix thoroughly. Optionally, you can add more spices.
Preheat the Airfryer to 190 degrees Celsius and distribute the tofu evenly in one layer in the cooking basket. Make sure that no pieces of tofu are on top of each other. You may need to bake the tofu in two batches.
Bake the tofu for about 10 to 15 minutes until crispy. Shake the tofu once during the baking time so that all the pieces are evenly browned.

Crispy tofu from the Airfryer: tips for cooking

You can serve the tofu as a meat substitute with side dishes such as rice, vegetables or potato wedges (e.g. also from the hot air fryer) or as a soup ingredient or in flatbread. The crispy tofu also tastes very good with fresh salad and vegan dips.

Cooking tips:

Freeze the tofu beforehand: For an extra crispy result, you can freeze the tofu beforehand and let it thaw and pat dry before further processing. When thawing, the tofu loses water and becomes particularly crispy.
Use fresh garlic: You can also replace the garlic powder with freshly pressed garlic. This makes the aroma even more intense.
Add more spices: You can modify the basic recipe as you like and add more spices. Variants with cumin, dried Italian herbs or curry powder, and turmeric are particularly tasty. Sesame oil also gives a very fine taste.
Marinating the tofu: Marinating the tofu makes it particularly flavorful. Let it soak in the marinade for 30 minutes before frying. However, since most marinades are very runny, the tofu will be a little less crispy.

Optionally, you can serve the tofu with a sauce after baking. However, you should then adjust the salt content and the spices, because the sauce is already seasoned.

When taking off or landing, passengers in an airplane should open their sun visors. But why actually? Here you can find out why.

Same rules on all passenger flights

Are you going on a holiday trip by plane or are you flying on business, are you flying with your family or alone – one thing always remains the same: the safety regulations on airplanes.

This includes the safety briefing by the flight attendants as well as the announcement that the tables must be folded back in and the armrests folded down during take-off and landing. The seat must be placed in an upright position, you yourself are buckled up.

And then there are the windows that you can black out. The sun visors that you use to darken the pane must also be up, i.e. open, during take-off and landing. By the way: half open does not apply, the aperture must be fully open.

avoid injuries

Folding up the table, sitting in an upright position, folding down the armrests: all these operations are for your safety. Because takeoff and landing are the two processes where the most can go wrong.

The pilots have to concentrate especially, wind strength and direction have the greatest influence at this point. The flight itself, on the other hand, is relatively easy to manage.

When taking off and landing, the pilots often have to fly curves and gain or lose altitude. The aircraft may jerk due to the changing thermals. At such a moment, you certainly don’t want to bump into the table in front of you or suddenly sit on your neighbor’s lap. The sun visors are also part of the safety concept.

Why the sun visors must be open during take-off and landing

If there is a dangerous situation during take-off or landing, you have to be able to react quickly. If the shutters are open, you can see, for example, whether the aircraft is moving towards water or land and can thus assess whether the use of the life jacket is necessary or not.

But not only you should be able to see what’s going on outside. The flight attendants in particular must have the best possible view of the outside from anywhere in the aircraft so that they can take the right steps in an emergency.

In the event of an engine fire, flight attendants must initiate an evacuation as quickly as possible. To do this, they need to know which emergency exit can be used and which cannot be used due to the dangerous situation.

Also stay buckled during the flight

By the way: keep your seat belt closed as much as possible during the flight. A buckled seat belt, even if it’s a little loose, will protect you in turbulence and keep you in place.

If you have a blanket on your lap on longer flights, buckle up over it. In this way, a flight attendant can see at any time that you are buckled in and do not have to wake you up to check the seat belt.
