Everyone knows oatmeal for breakfast. But did you know that you can also use them in the bath to promote health?

Oatmeal as a power source

Oats are considered very healthy. Muesli, porridge with fruit, delicious smoothies or as a baking ingredient – you can prepare and consume oatmeal in different ways. These contain more iron than meat, lots of magnesium, biotin and B1. Silicic acid and silicon are also included. In addition, oats are considered to be one of the best sources of dietary fiber.

So it’s no wonder that oatmeal is good for your intestines as well as your hair, fingernails and nerves.

The effect of oatmeal in the bath

But oatmeal is not only suitable for internal use, but also for external use. The vitamin E, ferrous acid and other substances contained in oats have an anti-inflammatory effect, soothe the skin and protect against the effects of UV radiation. An oatmeal bath is particularly suitable for people with sensitive skin and problems such as eczema and neurodermatitis. The bath can bring relief for acne, sunburn, itching and insect bites, because oatmeal also contains substances that soothe itching. Otherwise, they help to make dry skin soft and supple again.

You can add finely ground oatmeal or colloidal oats directly to the bathtub. Alternatively, you can fill a sock with oatmeal and attach it to your bathtub’s faucet; this variant saves you a time-consuming cleaning of the bathtub. Then let the water flow through the sock with the flakes.

You don’t have to do without the beneficial effects when you shower. Take the socks with you in the shower, soak them briefly and rub your skin with them. Leave it on for a short time and then rinse it off.

Caution: who should not sit in the oatmeal bath

But be careful: an oatmeal bath is not suitable for people with gluten intolerance, as allergic reactions cannot be ruled out. If you have sensitive skin, you should bathe with oatmeal at most twice a week, otherwise you will dry out your skin.

Tip: You can also make a face mask out of oatmeal or apply an oatmeal and water mixture directly to red areas.

A bath mat belongs in every bathroom. Above all, it should offer safety and ensure that your feet do not slip on the wet tiles after bathing or showering. Bath rugs are available in different sizes, shapes, and designs. In this article, we look at which bathroom rug is best suited for which bathroom

Bathroom carpet requirements

For most people, the bathroom is a personal oasis of well-being. An important element that cannot be missing is the bathroom rug. First, let’s take a look at the properties. A bathroom rug should meet these essential requirements:

  • Safety: When it’s wet, the bathroom can quickly become slippery. The bathroom carpet should therefore have a non-slip underside.
  • Durability: How long a bath rug stays beautiful depends on the material used and the processing. Underfloor heating also plays a role. A good bath mat should be suitable for this.
  • Care: Ideally, bath rugs are machine washable. Regular care is important, otherwise, bacteria and germs can multiply on it.

  • Design and feel: Both the design and the shape and size have to be right. The bath mat should fit well into the overall picture of the bathroom. The pile height also plays a role when choosing the bathroom carpet. While some prefer flat and firm carpets, others like high, fluffy models.

1) Safety comes first

Thin bathroom rugs usually do not have a coated underside. This means that these models do not offer sufficient safety in the bathroom. You could slip the carpet on the slick tiles whether you get out of the bath or shower. However, many bath rugs today are equipped with an anti-slip underside. This consists, for example, of a rubber coating or knobs made of latex. Also, note tips for making carpet non-slip.

It should be noted that not all bathroom rugs with a rubberized underside are machine washable. Detergents and fabric softeners can damage them. Underfloor heating can also be problematic. If the bath rug is exposed to constant heat, the coating can become brittle and peel off. When choosing the bathroom rug, you should therefore always pay attention to the manufacturer’s information.

2) Quality as an important prerequisite for long durability

In order for a bath rug to last a long time and remain beautiful, it should be made of high-quality material and well-made. If the bath rug frays at the seams, this can already be an indication of inferior quality. However, it is not uncommon for new carpets to shed a little at first.

Basically, the material should be abrasion, tear, and abrasion-resistant. Carpets made of synthetic fibers such as polyamide or polyacrylic have a great advantage that they dry quickly. On the other hand, models made of natural fibers such as cotton score points with their elegant look and pleasant feel. In addition, natural materials are more suitable for allergy sufferers. Compared to bathroom rugs made of synthetic fibers, however, they are not as durable and require more care.

3) Proper care ensures hygienic cleanliness

Bathroom carpets do a great job, they are constantly wet and exposed to fluctuating temperatures. In addition, dirt particles, dust, hair, and skin flakes accumulate on it. In connection with moisture, a bath rug can quickly become an incubator for bacteria and germs.

Therefore, it is not only important to clean the bathroom properly, but a bath rug must also be cleaned regularly. If the rug is not too big, it should be washed in the washing machine about every two to four weeks. In order to kill possible germs and bacteria, a minimum temperature of 60 degrees Celsius would have to be chosen. However, synthetic fibers tolerate a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius. Therefore, from a hygienic point of view, natural fiber carpets are the better choice.

But the coating on the underside of the carpet can also play a role here. Therefore, you should always follow the manufacturer’s care instructions. They often recommend washing the bath rugs without fabric softener and drying them flat after washing. Then a quick shake is enough for the pile to straighten up again.

4) The design and color should match the style of the bathroom

Bathroom rugs serve a useful purpose in the bathroom. But they are also a visual highlight and let the mostly cool rooms appear in a warmer light. If you have a very large bathroom, you can place several bath rugs at once. Many manufacturers sell these in sets consisting of rugs in different sizes. You can put a large rug in front of the bath or shower, a medium-sized rug in front of the vanity, and a small one in front of the toilet.

Tips and tricks for tanning faster in summer. The right and quick summer tan is an art. Anyone can tan quickly in summer if they follow a few tricks. We’ll tell you how you can get as beautiful a tan as the models. With instructions and advice, you will quickly get a tan in summer.

Browning from milking fat

If you would like to tan quickly in summer, simply apply some milking fat to your skin before sunbathing. You can get this in the drugstore for as little as 2 euros. But be careful, the skin becomes very warm and blisters can break out more often. Alternatively, you can also use coconut oil or coconut fat. In addition, note how to get the summer tan and stay tanned longer.

Tanning with olive oil

Olive oil not only tastes wonderful in a salad but also gives the skin a bronzy complexion. Olive oil nourishes the skin and at the same time accelerates the tanning process. Unfortunately, there is also a risk here of increased broom tears.

Tan on the water

Since water also reflects the sun’s rays, you should sunbathe in the water. So if you are by the water on a boat or a mattress, you will get more sun. That also explains why many water sports enthusiasts are so brown.

Take beta carotene

Beta carotene is a precursor of vitamin A and helps the skin to process the sun’s rays and is also a suitable diet for sun protection. People who get sunburned quickly should eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, where plenty of betas contains carotene. This is particularly found in carrots, apricots, and red peppers.

Sufficient moisture for the skin

Especially in summer, the skin needs a lot of moisture and care. Skin that is optimally moisturized reacts biochemically better to the sun’s rays and tans faster as a result. Adequate fluid intake is also important for this. That’s why you should drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

Never do without sun protection

It doesn’t matter how quickly you want to tan – sufficient sun protection for the skin is essential. Sunscreen will make your tan more slowly, but your tan will last longer. In addition, without sunscreen with UV protection, you risk sunburn. And avoiding sunburn is a top priority. If such a thing does occur, you should treat sunburn effectively.

Use self-tanner

Anyone who cannot tolerate the sun or has no opportunity for sunbathing can use special self-tanners. For this, however, your skin must also be supplied with sufficient moisture, otherwise unsightly stains can form. So make sure you spread the cream evenly. Spots can form, especially in rough areas such as elbows. It is best to use a scrub beforehand.

Tanning spray for the body

Many now offer tanning for the entire body. Here the body is sprayed with a so-called tanning spray, which gives the skin a bronzed complexion. The good thing is that tanning and self-tanners are completely harmless to the skin and can be used safely.

Use tanning accelerator

If you want to tan as quickly as possible, you can use a tanning accelerator before sunbathing. You simply apply it like a normal skin cream. If you would like to increase the tanning effect a little, you can cheat and use a little bronze shimmer or bronze powder.

Tanning pills to get a tan

Some manufacturers promise a quick tan with so-called tanning pills. However, these pills usually only contain a high proportion of beta carotene, which you can also add to your body through a conscious diet. So before you decide on tanning pills, you should check how they work.

In today’s world, everyday life is often plagued by stress and many hardships. The relaxation and well-being of the body are often neglected. In the following, however, you can find out how you can relax your body with a few home remedies and at the same time revitalize it with new energy.

Body peeling against rough skin

A body scrub that you can make yourself helps against rough, stressed skin. For the peeling, you need coarse sugar, some whipped cream, and olive oil. Gently mix all of the above ingredients together. While you can remove dead skin cells with sugar, olive oil contains vitamin E, which protects the skin cells. The lactic acid in the whipped cream, on the other hand, helps the skin to regenerate its protective acid mantle.

At the same time, the cream gives the peeling a pleasant consistency. Before use, however, you should shower and then gently massage the mixture from head to toe. Be careful, especially on the face, and then rinse off the peeling with lukewarm water. You do not have to consider a specific exposure time.

Stimulate the circulation with bath additives

If the person works too much, has stress or other problems, these factors also affect his circulation. However, you can stimulate your circulation with the appropriate bath additive. For this, you need Dead Sea salt, which you should drizzle with the essential oil of your choice. It is best to fill the self-made mixture into small bath bags and hold them under the running water tap.

However, you should make sure that the water is not too hot and that you do not lie in the bathtub for more than ten minutes, otherwise the bath would strain the circulation and lead to tiredness. The sea salt not only stimulates the circulation but also contains bromine, sulfur, and magnesium, important ingredients that bind moisture in the skin and can thus tighten it.

Let your soul dangle – a bath for connoisseurs

If you want to get away from it all, you will need 20 grams of rose petals, crushed cloves, and 15 grams of dried peppermint. Mix these ingredients together and fill the mixture into small cloth bags. For the application, place a corresponding cloth bag under the water jet of the bathtub. If the tub is full of water, you can let the bag float.

Regardless of whether you take a bath or want to take care of your skin, treat yourself to relaxation and regular breaks in the dreary everyday life, in which you can use bath additives you have made yourself or body peelings.
