Everyone knows it, you have more clothes than a closet. That’s why you have to muck out clothes from time to time. But instead of throwing them away, you can sell them at flea markets or online. But here, too, things are difficult to get rid of. So we have more tips for getting rid of clothes and having a dress party.

Cleaning out clothes

If you have too many clothes that you no longer wear, it’s high time to declutter your clothes. But sometimes it’s not as easy as you think. Because how often do you think to yourself: “I’ll definitely wear that again!”. But the fact of the matter is that most of the time that moment doesn’t come. And then the unworn things lie in the smelly wardrobe for years to come. Then you’d better get rid of your clothes. The Marie-Kondo method will help you to clear out the mess or consult a friend.

Just get rid of clothes

The question often arises as to how to sensibly get rid of the mountain of clothing. If you want to earn some extra money, you can make cash out of the things you have sorted out. To do this, sell your clothes at the flea market or on the Internet on special sites such as Vinted or eBay classifieds.

You can also donate the clothes to the Red Cross or other organizations. To do this, find out beforehand whether there is a need for women’s clothing. The German Clothing Foundation also collects package donations and distributes them fairly. Or throw a dress party!

What is a dress party?

Instead of simply throwing away the clothes or donating them, it makes sense to invite friends and relatives to a clothes party. Everyone brings the things that are to be discarded to the party. Children’s things are also very suitable for this.

Then you can either sell the clothes you brought with you cheaply, exchange them or simply give them away. Anything left over is given to charity the next day. As a result, a dress party is a lot of fun and you save money too. For even more joy, combine the party with a delicious brunch. In addition, such dress parties are often organized by larger organizers, so that you can swap with several people there.

Even when you’re on a diet, you don’t always want to eat at home. Losing weight in a restaurant is sometimes quite difficult. Go out to eat with friends despite being on a diet! Even if you are on a diet, you should not forego social contacts.

Many people do not dare to go to a restaurant while on a diet because they fear they could be tempted to diet. All you need is a clever head and a little self-discipline and you can spend a nice evening with your friends.

4 tips on how to behave in the restaurant when losing weight

  1. Just think about which foods fit best into your diet plan and consistently leave out everything else.
  2. In the restaurant, one tends to eat the plate completely empty, although one is already full. You should therefore be aware before ordering that you should not necessarily eat all the side dishes.
  3. If you let friends around the table in on your diet plans, it’s probably even easier to skip dessert.
  4. Spending the evening with friends in a nice atmosphere should make regretting the cream sauce easier.

1) Have sauces served separately

You have an appointment with friends or business partners in a restaurant while you are on a diet and therefore cannot cook according to your diet plan. If you follow a few rules, calorie traps can easily be avoided in restaurants. One of these traps is e.g. salad or meat sauces, which are usually very high in calories. With lots of salad dressing, a healthy, low-calorie salad quickly becomes a calorie bomb. That’s why you should always order sauces separately in the restaurant to lose weight and then only pour a small amount over the salad or other food.

2) Share with friends

Can’t stick to your diet program because of an invitation to a restaurant? Try to omit parts of the menu. It doesn’t always have to be a starter, main course, and dessert. If you want to try everything, share a starter or main course with a friend. When ordering, ask the waiter to serve the dish on two plates.

3) Not too much from the breadbasket

In most restaurants, bread and butter are placed on the table before the starter is served. Caution is advised here. If you treat yourself to a few slices of bread with butter, you will quickly consume as many calories as the starter or the main course contains. When eating in a restaurant, you should either limit yourself to one slice of bread from the outset or ask when ordering not to have a bread basket placed on the table.

4) Walk home

Have you ever thought about walking extra to the restaurant? Ways to exercise in everyday life are important when losing weight. For example, use the stairs instead of the elevator or escalators. By bike to the subway or to go shopping before going out to eat. This is a natural way to keep fit while burning more calories to make up for eating out.

Lentils are very healthy and come in many different varieties. For some, it makes sense to soak them before cooking. You can find out what you need to consider here.

Lentils contain a lot of protein, fiber and minerals and therefore play an important role in vegetarian and vegan cuisine. There are different types that need different cooking times. Especially with lentils with long cooking times, it makes sense to soak them beforehand. Soaking shortens the cooking time, saving you time and energy.

You should soak these types of lentils

Plate lenses are comparatively large and have a brownish color. We recommend soaking these: This shortens their cooking time from 60 to around 30 minutes.
There are many different types of small lentils: brown mountain lentils, green lentils, beluga, puy and pardinal lentils. You can soak them, but you don’t have to. They only take 20 to 30 minutes to cook, even without soaking.
Yellow and red lentils differ from the other varieties because they are lentils that have already been peeled. You shouldn’t soak them as they will break down. In any case, their cooking time is comparatively short at ten to 15 minutes.

Lentils: More digestible by soaking

Soaking lentils not only saves cooking time, but also makes them more digestible. Because in the raw state, lentils not only contain many healthy nutrients, but also substances that are difficult to digest, which can cause digestive problems, among other things. In particular, if you are sensitive to legumes, you should discard the soaking water and use fresh water for cooking. On the other hand, nutrients dissolved in the soaking water are lost.

In addition, lentils (like other legumes and cereals) contain so-called antinutrients that inhibit the absorption of minerals. An example of this: phytic acid. By soaking and cooking the lentils, you destroy a large portion of this antinutrient.

How to properly soak lentils

Combine 1 part lentils with 3 parts water in a porcelain, glass, or ceramic bowl. You should not use plastic or metal bowls, as they can dissolve substances in the soaking water.
Soak the lentils at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours, for example overnight. The warmer it is, the shorter the soaking time.
For subsequent cooking, you can either use the soaking water or fresh water. Both have pros and cons, as the soaking water contains both dissolved nutrients and toxins. The lentils are more digestible if you use new water, but the nutrient content is then lower. Try what is better for you.
If you use the soaking water for cooking, the starch dissolved in the water may cause a lot of foam to form. You can skim it off while cooking.

Reheating pizza is actually quite simple. We’ll show you how to prepare a fresh and delicious meal from the “leftovers” from the day before.

Are you also a fan of cold pizza that you bought the day before? According to chemist Maureen Cooper of Sterling University in Scotland, the cold pizza still tastes good because the tomato sauce keeps the cheese from seeping through to the pizza crust and making it mushy.

Nevertheless, not everyone is enthusiastic about the taste of a cold pizza. With our methods you can get the taste pretty close to that of the day before. And at the same time you are doing something against food waste.

Reheat and spice up pizza

To make your pizza taste a little more “like new”, you can add herbs, vegetables or fresh cheese before or after heating it up:

Herbs and salad: Fresh basil, rocket, thyme or rosemary spice up any pizza. However, be careful not to put basil or arugula in the oven or pan, or they will lose their strong flavor and burn. With the other two herbs this is fine.
Pickled and dried foods: You can halve or cut olives, chili peppers or dried tomatoes into small pieces and spread them on the pizza. You can even put them in the oven, as they develop their flavor well when warm.
Fresh: Garlic and onions give your pizza a very special freshness. If you would like to add some vegetables, for example peppers or mushrooms are suitable.
Mediterranean cheeses: You can even enhance the cheese flavor of your pizza with feta, mozzarella or parmesan. Together with the herbs, olives or tomatoes mentioned above, your pizza will have a particularly Mediterranean flair. All types of cheese can be reheated or put on top afterwards, depending on whether you prefer a melted or fresher taste. Vegan cheese is also suitable.
Extravagant: Many people will have their hair stand on end at this recommendation, but for some, pineapple gives the pizza a very special, exotic sweetness. Canned fruit or vegetables are ready prepared from the tin or rather from the jar and can be processed immediately. Corn or beetroot are also recommended.

Warm up pizza the right way: in the pan or in the oven

Note: If you reheat the pizza in the microwave, it will get pretty mushy.

Reheat pizza in pan:
Heat your pan to medium-high without adding oil.
Add the pizza and cook until the dough is no longer “wobbly”.
Now turn the heat down, add half a teaspoon of water to the bottom of the pan and place a pan lid on top.
After a minute or two, when the cheese melts, your pizza should be ready.
Reheat pizza in the oven:
Place your pizza on a baking sheet. Instead of baking paper, use a more sustainable baking paper substitute.
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
Spray the pizza lightly with water and drizzle some olive oil on top so it tastes fresher and crunchier at the end.
Bake them for about five minutes.

Home remedies to get rid of disgusting smells from smelly shoes. We have the best tips for you on how to easily get rid of the unpleasant smell in leather shoes, sneakers, and sports shoes!

Foot odor is individual, both the smell itself and its intensity. Some people sweat faster, others less quickly, some never wear shoes without socks and some prefer to wear them barefoot. However, everyone knows that at least one pair of sports shoes smells unpleasant at some point. We have collected the best tips on how to remove the smell from the smelly shoes and wear them with a good feeling again!

By the way, white shoes need special care when cleaning, which is why we have discussed them in a separate article. You will also find many more tips on the subject of shoes, for example how to widen shoes, which shoes fit best with hallux valgus, and how you can take care of your feet for the summer.

1) Wash sports shoes

Many sports shoes, slippers, and fabric shoes can simply be put in the washing machine. Then the shoes look like new afterward. Coarse dirt should be removed first, sometimes it is enough to knock out the shoes, otherwise, a brush or a damp cloth will help. You can then wash the pre-cleaned shoes on a delicate cycle (lower degree and spin speed). Then you should dry the shoes well, either in the sun or with the help of a newspaper (very absorbent!) that you stuff into the shoes. If the weather is not good outside, it is best to place them under a heater to dry.

2) Smelly shoes in the freezer

Another way to remove bad odors is to cool down the affected shoes, either in constant sub-zero temperatures outside on the terrace or balcony or in the freezer. Simply put the shoes in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer. After a few hours, the bacteria will be killed and the musty smell will disappear.

3) Cat litter against sweaty shoes

Athletes think a lot of this home remedy for sweaty feet and unpleasant odors in sport’s shoes: cat litter sucks the moisture out of the shoes and binds unpleasant odors. The cat litter beads can be conveniently poured out again after allowing them to act for a long time. You can also put cat litter in old nylon tights. Then place the filled nylon stocking in the welding shoes overnight.

4) Baking soda for smelly shoes

You can also use baking soda to deodorize smelly shoes. Baking soda binds and dries the stinking moisture in the shoes. For this method, simply sprinkle baking soda into the shoes and leave for hours (overnight). The household remedy baking powder dries out the damp inner sole and binds unpleasant shoe odors. After hours of knocking out your shoes.

5) Let shoes dry

Shoes should always be dried if they have been worn for a long time. This works well in the fresh air or in the sun, for example. Because the moisture in the shoes in particular can promote the formation of odors. The bacteria can also multiply much better in a moist environment. This is particularly relevant in winter and during the wet season. Then it is best to dry the shoes on the heater after wearing them.

6) Avoid smelly shoes in the future
