Advice on how to stick the sticker on the car correctly and remove the means to remove the car sticker. With tips to remove stickers from car paint. Many cars are decorated with stickers: the country code is emblazoned on the back, advertising messages are sometimes applied to the side and the bonnet can also be glued over a large area. But if you want to attach stickers to the car or simply remove them from there, you should follow a few basic rules.

If you want stickers on your car, you should moisten the car with soapy water on the affected area before sticking it on. The sticker can then be applied better. If you have enough of it later, you can loosen it again with a heat gun and a plastic spatula.

Stick the sticker correctly on the car

It sounds simple to just stick the sticker on the car. However, if you want to stick a stripe or something similar straight and without creases, you will usually face problems. It’s quite easy because the secret lies in the preparatory work: the sticker is to be stuck on a wet surface and can dry there if it is positioned correctly.

Take a bowl of water and dish soap. Clean the area where the sticker is to go as thoroughly as you can over a large area. Rinse the dirty water off the car carefully. Then wet the area again with soapy water. This does not damage the sticker, the dishwashing water cannot harm the adhesive.

Attach the sticker where you want it to go. Since it’s not sticky yet because of the water, you can slide it into place. You can now effortlessly smooth out air bubbles under the sticker. Allow the decal to dry in place. The water disappears by itself after a few minutes and the sticker adheres perfectly to its position.

Properly detach the sticker from the car

Once a sticker has really stuck to the car for a long time, it is difficult to remove it with just water and washing-up liquid. If you resort to harsher means, however, you run the risk of ruining the paintwork. Caution is, therefore, the top priority. You will need a heat gun and a plastic spatula. You can get both at the hardware store.

The heat gun should be turned to a warm but not hot setting. This is used to blow the warm air from about 10 centimeters onto the sticker until it bubbles. The sticker can now be scraped off with the plastic spatula without endangering the paintwork. The glued areas should then be cleaned with a soft sponge and soapy water.

Removing stickers and labels at a glance

The labels on glasses should stick well and withstand contact with water, heat, and humidity. While stickers can be easily removed from uneven surfaces, the level of difficulty increases enormously when the surface has an even surface structure. We would like to give you a brief overview of the best way to remove the stickers from the respective surface. You will also learn how to remove glue and superglue with home remedies.

Effective means of removing labels

Many people on the Internet are concerned with the question of the right means of solving adhesives. Consequently, we want to detail the different methods of removing labels and stickers for you. In doing so, we go into the best means for the respective surface. This means you can get rid of old stickers and labels in the future and reuse the items that have been stuck. In addition, note tips for sticking stickers and removing car stickers.

1) Remove labels from glass

Glass is a very smooth surface on which the label’s adhesive spreads well and adheres particularly well. Therefore, cleaning is not that easy here. Therefore, it is best to choose the following two options for removing labels from glass:

  • The use of a ceramic hob scraper. So scrape the label and the adhesive off the surface of the glass with the practical cleaning aid. Lay the scraper flat so the blade doesn’t hit the glass too hard. Then clean the surface with water and detergent.
  • Remove labels with a hairdryer. Heat the label with a hairdryer. This will make the glue runny and you can easily remove the label. The glass easily withstands high temperatures.

2) Removing stickers from plastic

Compared to glass, plastic is much more prone to scratches. You should therefore not use a ceramic hob scraper on this surface. The heat resistance of plastic can also vary depending on its thickness, so we wouldn’t recommend using a hairdryer in this case either. Instead, use the following means to remove the adhesive label:

  • dishwashing liquid as an aid. Small, insensitive plastic objects can be placed in lukewarm soapy water. Because the washing-up liquid is a very good degreaser, so you can easily remove the label afterward.
  • use of lemon juice. Because this contains a high acid content, which practically dissolves the glue. Here, too, you can place the object in a suitable water-lemon juice mixture. Or put the remedy on a rag and place it on the label to act. You can also use vinegar cleaner.

3) Remove labels from plexiglass or acrylic glass

Plexiglas and acrylic glass have about the same “sensitivities” as plastic. Therefore, you should not scratch them. You can also work with washing-up liquid or lemon/vinegar cleaner on the smooth surfaces of these objects. Furthermore, the following two means are recommended for the effective removal of the labels:

  • Oil vs Labels. Apply the oil thickly to the labels with your finger or a brush. Then let the oil soak in for a few minutes. It is best to try to detach the label in a few places beforehand. This allows the oil to penetrate faster and better.
  • Remove the sticker with a hairdryer. Since Plexiglas and acrylic glass are very stable and can withstand temperatures unless you aim the hairdryer at full heat for minutes, this step is quick and easy. The sticker can then be easily detached from the material.

4) Remove decal from metal

Metal is a very strong material. However, not every metal is scratch-resistant, which is why you should not use a knife or a ceramic hob scraper. The use of a hairdryer is also only recommended with great caution. Because if you let the hairdryer blow hot air on the metal for minutes, it can heat up, so that in the worst case you can burn yourself. We recommend that you use the following two remedies:

  • Use of vinegar cleaner. Because vinegar dissolves the glue. So put some vinegar on a rag and rub it over the label several times until it comes off. You can also use lemon juice on metal.
  • Nail polish remover is another effective way to remove the sticker from the metal. The nail polish should contain the solvent acetone. Then apply this to a cotton pad and rub the sticker several times. After that, the glue should come off easily.
