The 10 Best Summer Cocktails

The 10 best summer cocktails collected for you. What could be nicer than sitting on the balcony or terrace in summer, listening to relaxing music, and enjoying the sunset with a nice cocktail in hand? Of course, you can drink cocktails all year round, but summer is the best time for mixed drinks. There is a large selection of fresh fruits and these form the basis for refreshing summer cocktails as juice or syrup.

In the end, the glass is garnished with a large slice of fruit, because the eye also wants to enjoy the summer. I have put together a selection of my top 10 summer cocktails here. All are tried and tested by me so that I can give a reliable taste guarantee.

1) Caipirinha

The summer cocktail par excellence should not be missing from my list. You actually only need three ingredients: two limes, 5 teaspoons of cane sugar, and 5 cl of cachaca, which is responsible for the special taste. It is important to crush the limes together with the cane sugar with a pestle. Leave the zest in the glass and after crushing, let the lime sit for a few minutes before pouring over the crushed ice and the cachaca. What a treat. The refreshing caipirinha bowl tastes just as good.

2) Strawberry Caipirinha

They also have great non-alcoholic summer cocktails and the strawberry caipirinha is my personal favorite. It is prepared in a similar way to the real caipirinha, but you add two strawberries to the limes and cane sugar, which are also crushed. The whole thing is then topped up with ginger ale and crushed ice at the end. A wonderfully fruity berry mixture is created that may even taste good to children.

3) Jamaica Inn

This cocktail is strongly characterized by the yellow fruits of pineapple and apricot. The alcoholic base is 5cl brown rum mixed with 2cl fresh lemon juice. Then there is half pineapple juice and half apricot nectar and the glass is garnished with a skewer with pineapple and apricot pieces lined up. As an additional visual attraction, I dip the rim of the glass in grenadine and then in sugar right at the beginning – this creates a nice sugar rim.

4) Summer punch

Actually, a punch is not a real cocktail, but it should not be missing from this list. For my favorite recipe, I let 1 kg of frozen fruit mixture thaw and pour orange juice and some currant syrup over it. The whole thing must now rest for at least 5 hours before it is filled with ice, a bottle of sparkling mineral water, and sparkling wine. What a treat on a hot summer evening.

5) Sunflowers

Since the whole world drinks the Aperol Spritz, a cocktail with Aperol cannot be missing from my list of the best. 4cl Aperol forms the basis and is mixed in a shaker with 4cl Malibu and 5 cl each of orange juice, passion fruit juice, pineapple juice, and 1cl grenadine. A very fruity blend that plays wonderfully with the bitter note of Aperol.

6) GinnyBarbara

This is my own creation. I developed this cocktail based on another mix. The basics are, as the name suggests, 5cl gin and 3cl rhubarb syrup. These are mixed and poured with Prosecco. Two ice cubes, a few mint leaves, and a few roughly chopped strawberry pieces give this drink its special taste.

7) Blue Moon

As the summer night progresses, the Blue Moon comes into play. It stands out for its eponymous blue color, which comes from 2cl of Curacao Blue, which forms the alcoholic basis of the cocktail. Curacao is supplemented with 2cl white rum and 5cl white grape juice. Melon balls and a few red grapes then provide a colorful and tasty accent to the glass.

8) Ice Land

The Ice Land is a cool greeting from the far north and very easy to mix. The main ingredient of this drink is 10cl grapefruit juice, which is freshly squeezed if possible. The juice is mixed with 4cl vodka in a shaker and tonic water is poured on. A large slice of grapefruit decorates this refreshing cocktail.

9) Vodka Colada

The Pina Colada is a very popular summer cocktail. I like to use the version with vodka instead of rum, which has been given the nice name Vodkacolada. To do this, mix 2cl of vodka with plenty of pineapple juice (10-15cl) and add an egg yolk and 2cl of coconut cream to the shaker. This cocktail is very creamy and can also be decorated with mint.

10) Apple spritzer with a shot

My last summer cocktail tip is simple and ingenious at the same time. The apple spritzer is widespread and the ultimate summer drink. Mix equal parts apple juice and sparkling mineral water. And to top it off, 4cl of apple liqueur are added to this mixture, which gives a barely perceptible but nevertheless delicious note.

Fruits dominate the summer cocktails, and you will look in vain for heavy ingredients such as milk or cream. Light colors and fruity notes characterize these drinks. I always have a bag of ice cubes or crushed ice in my chest in the summer so I can use every opportunity for a cocktail. Do you know any other great summer cocktails?
