There is hardly anyone who has not had negative contact with a so-called “call center”. A distinction is made between two structures; those who want to call and sell something in an educated way and those who need advice or help themselves. We have tricks on how to stop sales calls.
Structure of the call centers

Contacting the call center is exhausting and nobody likes advertising calls anymore! If you have a purely commercial call center on the line that wants to sell you great sweepstakes, products, or cable connections, you can of course hang up. But then they will surely try again. As a rule, you as a client will first be asked about your identity. After that, flattery is distributed to finally get to the point of the convenience of the product. People laugh, talk, argue clearly “technically” and flatter potential customers.
Are sales calls allowed?
Many wonders if solicitation calls are allowed. And that’s a valid question. Since there are strict rules for telephone marketing in Germany, unwanted calls from dubious providers are usually not permitted. For this, there is the “Act to combat illegal telephone advertising” and the “Anti-rip-off law”. In some cases, companies face fines for unauthorized telephone advertising. Therefore, you should keep the following points in mind for the next advertising calls. Also, note tips for avoiding annoying advertising mail.
- A sales call is prohibited without your prior consent. Because the advertising calls must be approved by you in advance and not just on the phone beforehand.
- Attention, the declaration of consent can be hidden in the general terms and conditions. So it makes sense to read the fine print.
- If possible, write down the name of the company, phone number, and content of the call.
Effectively stop advertising calls
Here are the legitimate tricks to stopping telemarketing calls. Because nobody is obliged to answer the call center. In addition, the clever purchase of a mobile phone or the conclusion of liability insurance should never be carried out over the phone.

- Never give your phone number unless absolutely necessary.
- You should delete clauses on the storage of data for advertising purposes when concluding the contract.
- Just hang up if it’s a call center.
- Ask the caller for personal information themselves and make the above notes. So you can report them to the Federal Network Agency.
- “Are you calling from a call center?”. This question usually tempts the caller to hang up.
- Any negative statement on the phone frightens the caller so much that the phone number is declared as “not available” and it disappears from the system. (Although this is still available, it is no longer displayed as “positively active” in the telephone list and is selected as potential.)
