Wash the beets, boil until tender (40-50 minutes). Cool and clean.
Hard boil eggs (10 minutes), cool and peel.
Cut beets into cubes, put in a bowl.
Pour boiling water over the beets. Dip the peeled eggs into a bowl and leave for 20-30 minutes, periodically checking the color. The longer you keep the eggs in water with beets, the more intense the color will be.
Remove the dyed eggs from the water and pat dry.
With a knife, cut off part of the egg on one side for stability.
From the cut parts, cut out "patch" and "ears".
Make "eyes" for piglets from black peppercorns. To prevent the pepper from falling out, carefully make small holes with a knife and stick peas into them. Attach "piglets" with mayonnaise (very small amount).
Attach triangular "ears", also with mayonnaise.
From branches of bay leaves to make "tails" for piglets.
Here is such a simple but funny appetizer (or decoration) "Piglets" for the New Year's table.
Bon appetit!
