Meat chips - jerky - marinated and then dried pieces of meat. A very popular snack in America and other countries, ideal for beer, convenient on the road, etc. Jerks are perfectly stored, they can be cooked at home in the oven. Chicken chips (chicken fillet jerky) resemble dried fish in taste and density, but the taste is richer due to spices and marinade.

  1. Prepare the necessary products.
  2. Chicken fillet can be used both fresh and frozen.
  3. In the cooking process, you will also need: wooden skewers, foil, cling film and a metal grill for baking in the oven.
  4. In a deep bowl, combine sugar, salt, soy sauce, vegetable oil and ground paprika. Stir the marinade.
  5. Peel the garlic and chop on a fine grater.
  6. Add garlic to the marinade and squeeze lime juice (you can replace 1 lime with half a lemon).
  7. Wash the chicken fillet and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the fillet along the grain into thin strips (about 1 cm thick).
  8. Dip the chicken pieces into the prepared marinade. Cover tightly with a lid (or tighten with cling film) and refrigerate for at least 4-5, preferably 12 hours.
  9. The chicken pieces will absorb the sauce and become darker.
  10. Preheat oven to 60 degrees.
  11. Cover the bottom of the oven with foil or place a baking sheet so that the draining marinade does not stain the surface.
  12. Pieces of fillet should be strung on dry wooden skewers at a distance of 1-1.5 cm from each other.
  13. Place the chicken skewers on the oven rack. Now the pieces of marinated chicken fillet will be cooked in a suspended state (see photo).
  14. Dry chicken chips (jerks) in an oven ajar by 4-5 cm (for example, a wooden spoon can be placed between the door and the oven) for 4-5 hours.
  15. Ready dried chicken fillet should be dense, but easy to bend, break and chew.
  16. You can store chicken chips in the refrigerator for up to a week, in an airtight container or plastic bag.
  17. The appetizer was tasty and original. And you know exactly what these meat chips are made of.
  18. From the indicated amount of ingredients, about 600 g of dried chicken meat is obtained.
  19. Chicken jerks go great with beer or apple cider.
