Croquettes are oblong cutlets that are fried in oil. The word itself is of French origin, however, the dish became popular outside of France, for example, the British liked it. And later, already as a "traditional English dish", it came to India. It was in India that this name was borrowed by the Jewish communities of Bombay and Calcutta - the Baghdad Jews. Croquettes began to be called cutlets, which, by the way, were not local, but were brought to India at the beginning of the 19th century by Jewish settlers from Iraq. This was not the end of the metamorphosis with the cutlets. In addition to the name, the dish also borrowed typical Indian spices. Jewish women living in India began to add ginger, turmeric and masala to traditional rice and garlic.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cook rice. After boiling, keep the rice on the fire for 15 minutes, then drain the water.
  2. Mix the minced chicken with the grated ginger and garlic.
  3. Add turmeric, cilantro, salt, and then rice.
  4. Make oblong cutlets from this mixture.
  5. Fry them on all sides in vegetable / olive oil.
