Fried green tomatoes are a very popular dish in American cuisine. Roll the tomato circles in flour, dip in an egg, but, unlike the classic recipe, we do not immediately send them to the pan, but also roll them in breadcrumbs with grated cheese and Provence herbs. It turns out delicious - a tender, but not soft tomato is hidden under a crispy appetizing crust.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Wash and dry the tomatoes, remove the growth site of the stalk. Cut the pulp into circles - not thin, about 0.5-0.8 cm thick.
  2. Lightly blot the prepared tomatoes with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. In a small deep bowl, shake the egg with salt.
  4. Cheese grate on a fine grater.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with grated cheese, ground pepper and Provence herbs.
  6. Pour flour into a shallow bowl. Dip the tomato slices in flour on both sides.
  7. Then dip in the egg mixture on both sides.
  8. Then transfer to cheese and breadcrumbs and roll.
  9. Pour a little vegetable oil into the pan, heat well.
  10. Put the tomatoes in a pan, fry on each side for 2-3 minutes over medium heat.
  11. Transfer the roasted tomatoes to a plate lined with paper towels.
  12. Fry the remaining tomatoes in the same way, adding oil if necessary.
  13. Divide ready-made fried green tomatoes in cheese breading in portions and serve. I like to serve these tomatoes with sour cream, mayonnaise or garlic sauce. Tomatoes can be added to meat dishes or poultry.
  14. Bon appetit!
