Grilled Halloumi Cheese with Figs

Halloumi is a hard white cheese made from goat's and sheep's (sometimes cow's) milk. Halloumi is famous in Cypriot cuisine and is popular because it can be used in any form and cooked in all possible ways. It is halloumi that has a high melting point, this cheese is easy to cut into slices and it is great for grilling or frying in a pan. Try a great hot appetizer.

  1. Place the cheese slices and fig slices in a non-stick skillet heated over medium heat and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side. Transfer to a dish with greens. Pour the vinegar into the pan and raise the heat slightly. Throw in a small handful of cilantro leaves, add chili and garlic. Cook until the liquid has reduced by three-quarters. Pour this sauce over grilled cheese with figs. Drizzle with olive oil and serve immediately. Bon appetit!
