Homemade shawarma with fish and vegetables is an opportunity for a quick, proper and satisfying snack. Traditionally, shawarma is cooked with meat fried on a spit with the addition of spices, sauces and fresh vegetable salad. But try replacing the meat with pieces of tilapia fried in batter - it will be no less tasty!

  1. For sauce, combine mayonnaise, soy sauce, hot red pepper and lemon juice in a deep bowl.
  2. Stir the sauce with a spoon until smooth.
  3. Cut the tilapia fillet in half for easier frying.
  4. For batter, combine the egg and flour, salt and mix with a whisk, breaking up lumps.
  5. Dip a piece of fish in batter on all sides.
  6. Heat up 2 tbsp. tablespoons of vegetable oil and put the fish in batter there. Fry on both sides for 1 minute
  7. Fry all the pieces of tilapia in this way. Let the fish cool slightly before slicing.
  8. Cut the batter-fried fish into thin sticks - 1-2 cm thick.
  9. Wash the cucumber and sweet pepper and also cut into thin sticks.
  10. Cut pita bread into squares with a side of 20-25 cm. Put lettuce leaves on the edge of one side.
  11. Lay a few slices of chopped fish on top of lettuce leaves. Tilapia water 1 tbsp. a spoonful of sauce.
  12. Place 2-3 slices of pepper and cucumber on the fish.
  13. Wrap the sheet of pita bread with an envelope. To do this, first fold the sides of the pita bread, and then roll it up. In the same way, form 3 more shawarmas with fish.
  14. Heat up in a grill pan 1 tbsp. a spoonful of vegetable oil and fry the shawarma on both sides until appetizing stripes from the grill, 1-2 minutes on each side. Lavash should become crispy.
  15. Remove the fish shawarma from the pan and serve immediately while the pita bread is crispy.
