Golden onion rings fried in batter and breadcrumbs are a great alternative to store-bought chips or crackers. Crispy, tasty, and most importantly, unlike a variety of store-bought counterparts - without any harmful additives. A wonderful appetizer made from the simplest products that are always at hand.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Immediately turn on the oven to warm up to a temperature of 130 degrees.
  2. We start by making breadcrumbs. To do this, cut the bread into small pieces.
  3. Grind in a kitchen blender until crumbly. The breadcrumbs will still be quite large - this is normal.
  4. We cover the baking sheet with parchment. Pour the bread crumbs onto a baking sheet, level and send to the oven, preheated to 130 degrees, for about 20 minutes. During this time, mix 2-3 times, making sure that the crackers do not burn.
  5. Then we cool.
  6. Pour the breadcrumbs into a blender and grind. The longer you grind, the finer the bread crumbs will be. They should not be too small - breading, resembling dust, creates not a crispy, but an inedible hard crust on the products.
  7. (From 300 g of bread, I got 220 g of breadcrumbs.)
  8. In a deep bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and ground pepper.
  9. Mix until smooth.
  10. Break the egg into a separate bowl. Add 1 tbsp. a spoonful of water, stir with a fork until smooth.
  11. Pour the egg mixture into the flour bowl. Then, while stirring, gradually add the remaining water (5 tablespoons). The batter is ready.
  12. Peel the onion and cut into slices 7-8 mm thick.
  13. We disassemble the onion slices into rings.
  14. Dip each onion ring in the batter.
  15. Then roll in breadcrumbs.
  16. (For breading the onion rings, I used half of the total mass of prepared crackers.)
  17. In a deep saucepan or cauldron, heat the vegetable oil for deep frying. The oil should not be too hot so that the onion has time to fry inside. We spread the onion rings in batter and breading in boiling oil.
  18. Fry the onion rings in batter for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  19. Place the fried onion rings on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  20. Then transfer the onion rings to a serving dish.
  21. Bon appetit!
