One large sandwich is prepared with Italian bread, ham, cheese and tomatoes, then pan fried and divided into 4 smaller sandwiches.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut the bread horizontally into two halves. Remove almost all the pulp from the top half, leaving only 1 cm on the crust. Crumb in this recipe is not needed, use at your discretion.
  2. Grease both breadboards with vegetable oil from the inside (sections). Sprinkle half of the base of the bread with goat cheese, top with basil leaves, tomato slices, ham and arugula leaves. If desired, you can sprinkle everything with balsamic vinegar. Cover the sandwich with a half-top (crust-lid).
  3. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat, grease with vegetable oil. Place the sandwich carefully on the pan, top with the second dry pan, press down lightly and cook for 2.5 minutes, then turn the sandwich over, press down again with the pan and fry for 2.5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the sandwich to a cutting board and let rest for 4-5 minutes. Then, with a sharp knife, cut the sandwich into 4 equal parts.
