Crispy twisted puffs with sausages and cheese are a great option for a spectacular appetizer made from ready-made puff pastry.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare the items on the list. Defrost puff pastry. It is most convenient to do this in advance by moving the dough from the freezer to the upper chamber of the refrigerator and leaving it from evening to morning or vice versa. So the dough will slowly defrost, but remain elastic, well chilled and will be ready for cooking at a convenient time for you.
  2. Turn on the oven to preheat to 180 degrees.
  3. Lightly flour your desktop, lay out the puff pastry and roll it out to a thickness of about 0.4-0.5 cm. I got a rectangular layer of dough measuring 36x28 cm.
  4. Cut the dough into two pieces. I divide the dough horizontally into two equal parts of 14 cm wide. Lubricate one half of the dough with mayonnaise, the other with ketchup. When greasing the dough, step back slightly from the edges so that the halves of the dough stick together better when forming puffs.
  5. Peel the sausages, grate on a coarse grater and place on half of the dough, smeared with ketchup.
  6. Cheese grate on a fine grater. Spread the cheese over the layer of minced sausages.
  7. Cover the filling with the second half of the dough, smeared with mayonnaise, side inward, combining along the perimeter. Press the top layer of dough against the bottom and pinch the edges. Cut the dough into strips about 2-2.5 cm wide.
  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  9. Twist each strip of stuffed dough into a spiral (helical) shape. Lay the prepared puffs on a baking sheet, at a small distance from each other.
  10. Separate the yolk from the white into a handy bowl (no egg white needed). Lightly fluff the yolk with a fork and brush the prepared puffs with it. Sprinkle the puffs with sesame seeds. If some of the puffs do not fit on a baking sheet, send them to the refrigerator for a while and bake a second batch.
  11. Place the prepared puffs in a preheated oven and bake at a temperature of 180 degrees for about 17-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  12. Snack puffs with sausages and cheese are ready. Let them cool slightly.
  13. Put the puffs on a plate, if desired, top with ketchup or other favorite sauce and serve.
