A very popular dish in Greece - "Garides Saganaki" or "Shrimp baked with cheese" - is prepared simply and quickly, it turns out incredibly tasty!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Onion (or shallot) and bell pepper cut into small cubes.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and fry the vegetables over medium heat for 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  3. We rub the tomato on a coarse grater, do not use the peel.
  4. We spread the grated tomato to the onion and pepper, add salt and pepper, pour in the ouzo and simmer the sauce for 7-8 minutes.
  5. Transfer the sauce to a baking dish.
  6. We clean the shrimp from shells and intestinal wreaths on the tails.
  7. Fry the shrimp in a dry hot frying pan for 2 minutes on each side.
  8. We shift the shrimp into a dish with vegetable sauce. Crumble feta cheese on top, sprinkle the top of the dish with fresh thyme.
  9. We send the form with shrimp in vegetable sauce and cheese to the oven preheated to 180 degrees for 15 minutes, we only need the cheese to melt.
  10. Shrimp Saganaki - shrimp baked with cheese - ready. This dish is served in portions, with fresh white bread, which is used to soak the sauce.
