Chicken broth with dumplings

  1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add the pieces of butter and chop with a dough knife.
  3. Stir in milk with a fork. You may need a little less than a glass of milk, so add it gradually.
  4. Sprinkle plenty of flour on the work surface. Roll out the dough thinly with a rolling pin.
  5. Using a dough cutter, cut the dough into long strips, and then cut the strips into squares about 5 x 5 cm. When slicing, dust the cutter with flour to prevent it from sticking to the dough. The dumplings are especially beautiful if you use a grooved cutter.
  6. Using a spatula, transfer the dumplings to a thickly floured plate. Sprinkle flour over the layers of dumplings. In a large saucepan, bring chicken stock to a boil. Add the dumplings one at a time and mix gently. The extra flour on the dumplings will help thicken the broth.
  7. Cook for about 15-20 minutes. Add the cooked chicken to the pot and serve.
