Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare the ingredients for the coffee cake batter. Cut the butter into small cubes and place in the mixer bowl. Leave it at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  2. Sift the flour for the cake batter through a fine sieve with baking powder, cardamom and salt into a large bowl. Pour instant coffee (2 tablespoons) with boiling drinking water and let cool.
  3. Set aside one tablespoon of soft butter; you will need it later to make the syrup that will saturate the cake. Beat the rest with a mixer with 200 g of sugar until a fluffy mass of a homogeneous consistency is obtained.
  4. Add eggs one at a time to the sweet butter mass, beat thoroughly with a mixer after each. Pour in the cooled coffee. Add sour cream and stir until smooth.
  5. Add flour mixture gradually. Knead the coffee cake dough. Transfer to a baking dish at least 24 cm in diameter and bake at 180 ° C for 30–35 minutes.
  6. While the cake is in the oven, prepare the syrup. Pour 250 ml hot water into a saucepan, add the remaining sugar and coffee. Put in the butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar completely.
  7. Let the finished coffee cake cool slightly in the mold, literally 5 minutes. Make deep holes with a toothpick and pour hot syrup over the item. Let cool and serve.
