In conditions of lack of time, puff pastry can help out even with the preparation of holiday snacks. Here, for example, according to this recipe: puff pastry with tomato sauce, grated cheese and parsley is easily formed from puff pastry - and in half an hour you will have an original, tasty and beautiful pastry snack ready.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare the necessary ingredients. I use two types of hard cheese, you can use any cheese you like.
  2. Defrost puff pastry beforehand.
  3. Butter should be at room temperature.
  4. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
  5. Finely chop the parsley with a knife.
  6. Dust the surface of the table with flour and roll each half of the dough into a rectangle 0.2-0.3 cm thick.
  7. The size of each rectangle should be approximately 25x40 cm.
  8. Dilute the tomato paste with 2 tbsp. tablespoons of water in a small bowl. Brush the rolled out half of the dough with the tomato sauce all over with a spatula.
  9. Sprinkle the dough with dried oregano.
  10. Spread the grated cheese evenly over the dough.
  11. Sprinkle finely chopped parsley on top.
  12. Cover the prepared layer with the second half of the dough.
  13. With a pizza cutter (or a sharp knife), cut the dough lengthwise into 2 equal pieces, and then cut into transverse strips about 3-3.5 cm wide. You should get 20-22 pieces (should be an even number).
  14. Melt the butter (on the stovetop or in the microwave). Oil the surface of the dough with a silicone brush.
  15. Turn on the oven to heat up to 180 degrees.
  16. Lay one strip of dough with filling on top of another (as in the photo), thus forming 10-11 strips of dough with two layers of cheese inside.
  17. Place a wooden stick or skewer on top of a piece of dough along the middle and press it (drown inwards) to open the layers of dough on the sides, revealing the filling.
  18. Remove the stick, and twist the workpiece around its axis 2-3 times. Prepare the rest of the blanks in the same way.
  19. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay all the puff pastry on it. Brush each loose piece of dough with the remaining butter.
  20. Bake puffs in a preheated oven at a temperature of 180 degrees for 25 minutes, until a delicious ruddy color and crispy crust (focus on the characteristics of your oven).
  21. Cheese puffs can be more than just an appetizer. It is convenient to take them with you on the road, give them to children at school or treat them to friends if you go to visit.
  22. Hot puffs taste best when the cheese is still warm and stretches pleasantly on hot dough. But the cooled puffs are very tasty!
