Tasty Green tomatoes are fried in batter and served hot.

  1. In a bowl, beat eggs with buttermilk (sour milk). In a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, pepper and 1/4 cup flour. Cut the tomatoes into slices about 0.8 cm thick. Roll the tomatoes in the remaining flour on all sides. Then dip in buttermilk (sour milk) with eggs, and finally in the starch mixture.
  2. Pour vegetable oil into a large frying pan (about 1.5 centimeters in the height of the frying pan). Heat the oil over medium-high heat to a temperature of 175 degrees. Dip the tomato slices into the hot oil and fry for about 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Transfer the fried green tomatoes to a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  3. Sprinkle hot fried green tomatoes with salt to taste. You can serve fried green tomatoes with tomato sauce or ketchup.
