The right care for beautiful natural nails
The hands are a woman’s business card, and only well-groomed fingernails contribute to a positive, aesthetic overall picture. But how can natural nails be optimally cared for? What should be considered when the nails are shortened? In the following article, you will get an overview of the different options in the field of nail care. After all, it is not always necessary to go to the nail salon if you can effectively care for your natural nails with simple tricks and home remedies.
1) Regular nail care
Many women only occasionally file their nails and rarely groom them. But you should rather set aside 30 minutes a week for a thorough manicure. And it is best to always repair it immediately if your fingernail tears or something breaks off in the meantime. Beautiful nails can only be achieved with regular nail care and manicure. Caring for your toenails should also be part of your routine.
2) Cleaning the fingernails
You don’t necessarily need the pointed side of the nail file to clean your natural nails, you can use a rosewood stick. If the nails are very dirty, soap and a nail brush can help with right-hand care. In addition, you can ideally clean your nails with denture cleaning tabs that are available in the drugstore. To do this, take a tab and dissolve it in 150 milliliters of water. Then stick your fingernails in for a minute or two. This removes the coarse dirt.
3) Correctly shorten natural nails
Shortening the natural nails is an important part of nail care. You should bear in mind that nails that are too short can lead to illness or brittleness. Since the nail is a natural protection for the nail bed, it should always cover the entire nail bed. If your nail bed has become inflamed, use natural remedies against nail bed inflammation, e.g. healing clay or chamomile.
In general, the fingernails should be at least so long that they reach more than a millimeter over the fingertip. If the fingernails appear slightly brittle, you can let the nail plate protrude by about a millimeter at the edges on the left and right to then round off the nails.
4) Cut or file nails?
Only soft nails should be trimmed at a time. So best after cleaning your nails or when you come out of the shower. Only cut off until all the nails are the same length. If one fails, you can make an exception for that one.
For nail filing, on the other hand, the nails should be absolutely dry and hard. It’s best to wait at least a few minutes after cutting. Always file carefully with a relatively new file. Always use the rough side of the file first, then smooth and polish with the finer side. Also, remember to always file the nails from the edge to the middle. With the right filing technique, they don’t break so easily.
5) Choose the right nail shape
For beautiful fingernails, it is important to be very clear about your favorite shape. If you want to be on the safe side, choose a round fingernail shape. You can reshape these several times over time to other round shapes or slightly adjust them for the oval type.
6) Remove cuticles
Every manicure should include cuticle removal. Cuticles are the skin around the fingernail. Most of the time it can only be seen below, at the beginning of the fingernail. Use a manicure tool such as a rubber or wooden “nail hoof,” a plain wooden stick, or a soft towel to gently push down the cuticles. Be careful not to damage the cuticles.
Your best bet is to buy a cuticle softening product. Then you can always push back the cuticles much more easily and gently. The cuticles should never be cut. It should also not be wildly plucked at scraps of skin. In the following video, you can see exactly how to best remove and care for your cuticles.
7) Polish beautiful nails
Works on toenails and fingernails, on men and women, always well-groomed: polished nails! You can achieve a natural shine with a 3-step polishing file. Such a polishing file removes small cracks, grooves, and bumps and achieves a great shine. But beware: With such polishing files you can also damage the nails. If you use the rough side too much, nails become very thin and elastic. So here it is best to only work once a week with the nail arrows.
