This citrus birthday cake is quite easy to make and will surely impress your guests.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Turn on the oven to preheat to 190 degrees. Line 6 round 20 cm springform pans with parchment paper.
  2. Beat softened butter with sugar until fluffy. Then add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each. Then add flour.
  3. Pour half of the citrus cake dough into another bowl. Add the lemon zest and yellow coloring to one bowl with the dough, and add the orange zest and orange coloring to the other bowl, respectively.
  4. Divide the dough evenly into molds. If you do not have so many forms, then you can bake the cakes one at a time. Bake each cake for about 10 minutes, but do not fry so that they are airy. In total, you should get 3 yellow and 3 orange cakes. Cool cakes at room temperature.
  5. Meanwhile, prepare the syrup. In a small saucepan, combine lemon juice with limoncello and 25 grams of sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook the syrup, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Then remove the saucepan from the stove and pour the syrup into a bowl or glass. In the same saucepan, combine the remaining sugar and orange juice, also boil the syrup and pour into a separate bowl. Let the syrups cool.
  6. While the syrups are cooling, you need to prepare the cream. In a large bowl, beat the butter until fluffy, then add the cream cheese and beat well again. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until smooth and elastic. Then add a spoonful of limoncello, mix and put the cream in the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes.
  7. The final stage - we collect the citrus cake. Put the orange cake on a serving dish, soak with orange syrup and brush with cream, put the yellow cake on top, soak with lemon syrup and brush with cream. Repeat the remaining layers, alternating yellow and orange. Ready citrus cake can be decorated with citrus zest.
