Childhood nostalgia for everyone, regardless of age or nationality - a toffee with a caramel flavor, known in English as fudge. In fact, this type of candy is over 200 years old and it began its journey around the world from New York. The basic recipe is simple, and by adding cocoa you can easily turn classic toffees into chocolate.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare a form in which we will cool our caramel mixture. Cover it with parchment and thoroughly grease it with melted butter.
  2. Put a saucepan of medium thickness on the walls over low heat and alternately add sugar, butter, milk, vanilla, and condensed milk.
  3. Without stirring constantly, cook for about 15 minutes. The mixture should boil slightly, it is important not to stop stirring and not to burn.
  4. After 15 minutes, the mixture begins to noticeably caramelize, continue to cook very carefully, stirring constantly and watching the color. At this stage, it takes about 5-7 minutes and the mixture becomes a beautiful brown color.
  5. Pour the mixture into a mold in a layer up to 2 cm thick and cool for a couple of hours.
  6. Remove from the pan and cut into neat squares. Toffees are perfectly stored in a metal box on parchment paper.
