Placindes - a traditional Moldovan dish, pies in the form of round flatbreads with a filling. According to this recipe, pies are made from the simplest unleavened dough with potato filling. The potatoes are cut into small cubes and mixed with onions and fresh parsley. Placinas are fried in a pan, they turn out fragrant and satisfying.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Sift flour into a bowl. We make a recess in the center.
  2. Pour 1 teaspoon of salt into the well.
  3. Then pour water into the recess. We begin to knead the dough.
  4. The dough should be firm enough (but in moderation), at the same time, it should be elastic and roll out well. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel or cling film and leave it on the table for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into 6 equal parts. The weight of each piece is about 125 g. From the pieces of dough we form balls, which we cover again and leave for 10 minutes.
  6. Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut them into very small cubes.
  7. Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.
  8. Combine potatoes and onions in a bowl.
  9. Wash the parsley, chop finely and add to a bowl with onions and potatoes.
  10. Add salt.
  11. Mix everything well - the filling is ready.
  12. Roll the dough ball very thinly (1-2 mm) into a square layer. It is not necessary to give too perfect a shape. I got a layer with a size of 28x28 cm.
  13. Put 1/6 of the filling in the center of the square (about 2 tablespoons).
  14. The edges of the dough can be moistened with water (for better adhesion). We connect two opposite "corners" of the dough (diagonally), slightly overlapping them and covering the filling.
  15. Then we connect the two remaining "corners" of the dough, closing the filling to form a square envelope.
  16. Then slightly flatten the corner of the "envelope" and bend it 2-3 cm towards the center (as in the photo).
  17. In the same way, we continue to fold the corners of the "envelope".
  18. So bend all 4 corners to make a round cake.
  19. In the same way, we form blanks from the remaining dough and filling.
  20. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan (it should completely cover the bottom of the pan).
  21. Put the cake in the hot oil with the seam down. Fry the pies on low heat, covered for 5-7 minutes.
  22. Turn the placinda over to the other side and fry it under the lid for another 5-7 minutes. During this time, the potatoes are fully cooked.
  23. So we fry all the placinths, adding vegetable oil as needed.
  24. Placinths with potatoes are ready. We serve them warm as an independent snack or in addition to main courses.
  25. Bon Appetit!
