A simple and delicious recipe for crispy breadcakes. In Italy they are called “mother-in-law's language” (Lingue di suocera). And from what character and tongue the mother-in-law has, the sprinkling on top changes - from hot pepper to brown sugar! Try to cook it, it turns out delicious!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. We will prepare everything you need for Italian bread "Mother-in-law's tongues". The products are the simplest, the only thing - take olive oil. It will be tastier with it and in Italian!
  2. Pour salt and yeast into flour. We mix.
  3. We add water little by little. Knead soft dough.
  4. Do not add all the water at once, focus on your flour (I have 1 tbsp. A spoonful of water left).
  5. Knead the dough for a few minutes and add 1-2 tablespoons of oil. Then we knead for another 5 minutes.
  6. Let the dough stand for 2 hours under the film. I had the dough in a bowl right on the table.
  7. Lightly knead the dough and divide into 10 approximately equal parts. Roll each part of the dough into a ball, cover with a towel and let stand for 10 minutes.
  8. We also need salt, dry rosemary (you can take fresh) and 2 tbsp. tablespoons of olive oil.
  9. Roll each blank into a long thin tongue.
  10. We spread the tongues on a prepared baking sheet (oiled and dusty with flour). Lubricate with olive oil and sprinkle with rosemary and sea salt on top - this is a classic option. But if the mother-in-law is sharp on the tongue, then add pepper on top. And if the "second mother" is affectionate and gentle, sprinkle the tongues with cane sugar.
  11. We bake "mother-in-law's tongues" in a preheated oven at a temperature of 180 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  12. Let the finished cakes cool a little, and then we crunch merrily at the family table!
