A simple recipe for flavorful and crunchy lean scones with onions. Despite the lack of meat in their composition, these cakes taste a bit like whitewash - just as fragrant and tasty. Hearty onion cakes can be served with tea or milk, or with a main course instead of bread.

  1. We prepare products according to the list.
  2. Sift flour into a deep bowl. We make a deepening, add 1 teaspoon of salt, water and mix.
  3. Knead the tough dough.
  4. Cover the bowl with the dough with a towel and leave for about 1 hour. During this time, the dough will become soft and elastic.
  5. After the time has elapsed, divide the dough into 2 equal parts.
  6. Roll each part of the dough into a layer about 3-5 mm thick.
  7. Cut the onion into quarters.
  8. Lubricate the dough layer with vegetable oil, spread part of the onion and distribute it evenly over the entire surface. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt on top. We do the same with the second layer of dough.
  9. We roll the dough with onions into rolls, pinch the edges.
  10. We cut the rolls into pieces about 3 cm wide.I got 14 pieces.
  11. Put the pieces of dough with the cut up and flatten it with your hand. Then roll out with a rolling pin into small cakes with a diameter of 7-8 cm.
  12. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Put the cakes in the pan.
  13. Fry the cakes over medium heat for about 1-2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  14. Put the finished cakes on a paper towel so that excess oil is absorbed.
  15. Lean cakes with onions are ready.
  16. These are the cakes in the rift (see photo). The dough is layered, and inside there is a fragrant onion filling.
