Dumplings - an ancient Ukrainian dish, probably older than red borscht. There are recipes for flour and potato dumplings, salty and sweet, in water and kefir, with cabbage and meat, of various shapes, lazy and ordinary dumplings. The recipe for Transcarpathian dumplings is extremely simple and easy. Enjoy!

  1. Boil the potatoes in their skins, cool, and peel.
  2. Knead the potatoes with a pestle or grate on a large grater.
  3. Add egg, salt, pepper, and flour to the potatoes and knead the elastic dough.
  4. Form a sausage with a diameter of 3 cm from the dough and cut it into pieces. Roll a little in flour.
  5. Add a little oil to the boiling water, add salt and toss the dumplings. Boil until they rise.
  6. Take out the finished dumplings with a skimmer in a deep bowl.
  7. Cut the onion into cubes and fry in oil. Finally, add the butter.
  8. We water dumplings in the Transcarpathian way with fried onions, we decorate with greens and we serve.
