This wonderful poppy seed strudel cooks very quickly as it does not require fiddling with the dough. Thin crispy crust, a lot of fragrant poppy filling - such pastries will not stale on the table!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. We prepare the necessary products.
  2. Remove the puff pastry from the freezer approximately 30 minutes before preparing the strudel.
  3. Combine dry poppy and vanillin in a deep container.
  4. Grind dry poppy with an immersion blender for 3-5 minutes so that it becomes moist and darkens.
  5. Then add sugar and egg.
  6. We interrupt everything with a blender for another minute.
  7. Then add milk.
  8. And we interrupt for another 1-2 minutes.
  9. Roll out the defrosted yeast puff pastry on a flat surface to a thickness of 2 mm. Lightly sprinkle the surface and rolling pin with flour so that the dough does not stick to them when rolling. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 35x47 cm in size.
  10. Apply poppy filling evenly to the entire surface of the dough, not reaching 1-2 cm to the edges. And we leave one short edge without filling by 4-5 cm.
  11. Roll the dough with the filling into a not too dense roll towards the edge without the filling, which we slightly moisten with water (so that the seam sticks well).
  12. On a baking sheet covered with parchment and greased with vegetable oil, lay the roll seam down.
  13. In a cup, stir the remaining egg with a fork.
  14. Grease the surface of the strudel with an egg and sprinkle with sugar.
  15. Let the strudel rest while the oven warms up to 190 degrees.
  16. We bake strudel with poppy seeds from puff yeast dough in an oven preheated to 190 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until golden crisp.
  17. Let the finished strudel cool completely.
  18. Then sprinkle the strudel with powdered sugar through a sieve.
  19. Cut the cooled strudel into portioned pieces.
  20. Enjoy your tea!
