Ingredients

Directions

  1. One of the main ingredients in "potatoes" is sweet crumb. To get it, you can use biscuit trimmings. You can also specially bake a biscuit, and then dry it and grind it. Both simple shortbread cookies and homemade crackers are suitable as a base. To get fine crumbs, use a coffee grinder, meat grinder, or simply crush everything in a mortar. After the crumb is ready, pour 120 g into a bowl.
  2. Add 1 - 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the crumb. Using the amount of cocoa, you can adjust the color of the finished cake: the more cocoa, the darker the color.
  3. Stir the mixture in a bowl, add 30 g of powdered sugar and stir again. The amount of powdered sugar depends on the sweetness of the crumb. If you made a crumb from a sweet biscuit, then 30 g is enough, but if you used homemade crackers, then you need to put more powdered sugar, about 70 g.
  4. Add to the mixture 50 g of softened butter and 30 g of nuts. We crush the nuts into small pieces, but not to the state of powder. Walnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts are suitable. If desired, you can put raisins, dried apricots, or completely do without additional fillers.
  5. Rub the butter well with the whole mixture.
  6. After that, add 70 g of milk at room temperature to a bowl, mix well again, season with vanilla / vanilla sugar.
  7. As a result, you should get a thick mass that keeps its shape well. If you see that there is too much milk and the mass "floats", add some crumbs.
  8. Lightly sprinkle the bottom of a flat large plate with powdered sugar. Form small balls with clean hands, roll in the remaining crumb and put on a plate. The potato cake will be tastier if you put the dish in the refrigerator for at least half an hour before serving.
