The simplest, but at the same time delicious and favorite dish for many is cabbage stew with potatoes, to which you can add the remnants of any meat left in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cut the cabbage into 2 cm sectors, then crosswise into 2 cm pieces. Remove the stump. Season the cabbage with salt and stir.
  2. Peel the potatoes (young ones can simply be brushed without peeling) and cut into medium wedges. Peel and finely chop the onion.
  3. Cut all meat leftovers into small pieces.
  4. In a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter, add the onion (if using bacon, add that too) and sauté for 5 minutes.
  5. Add cabbage and potatoes, stir, pour in some hot water and simmer covered for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add any leftover meat, stir and cook for about 7 minutes more. Serve hot.
