Recipe for making bread with grated pears, walnuts, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Unusual bread with pears and nuts will become a highlight on your table.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees and lightly grease a bread pan with butter. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon in a large bowl and stir with a fork. If using nuts, take 1/4 cup flour mixture and in a small bowl, mix with chopped walnuts. Peel and core the pears, then grate them to make about 2 cups.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine butter, vegetable oil, eggs, sugar, grated pears, nut mixture (if used) and vanilla extract, mix well. Add the pear mixture to the flour, stir until the dough is evenly moist. Put the dough in the prepared dish and bake in the preheated oven for 60 - 70 minutes, until the bread is browned.
  3. Allow the bread to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10 minutes, cover with a tea towel. Then place it on a wire shelf to cool completely, top side up.
  4. Before serving, you can sprinkle the bread with powdered sugar or icing by mixing 3 tablespoons of milk, a pinch of vanilla, and 2 cups of powdered sugar.
